Then that would mean Bama would have beat #1 LSU, so that would anchor their ranking and prevent a big drop after a loss to Vandy. I guess it would depend on when in the year that loss to Vandy came. Depending on the timing, I think Bama could still have a good shot at top 2.

I didn't think my whole I would ever see A fan base argue the quality of a Loss........a big fat L.
They have the better resume winning more quality games and playing more ranked opponents. Double OT loss on the road after a plane ......awe f..it.

If the situations were flipped, Alabama would still be in. The only reason Alabama is ahead of okie st right now is because of name recognition. Okie st's resume is easily better than alabama's.

the media would be all over Bama saying..."they lost in double overtime on the road the same day they had coaches killed in a plane crash their heads were not in the game yet it still took 2 overtimes for them to lose...that is how strong this Bama team is and they deserve a shot at the title"

If you lost to Vandy and still won your conference (like OSU) then yes. Otherwise total FaIL of an argument.

He's right in a way. The best thing on Alabama's resume is that they didn't get skull drug by LSU. They have no real merit to stand on other than that, and I guess that may be enough to get them into the BCSNC.

No, he's not right. He's presenting a hypothetical in which Bama's only loss would be to Vandy, which would mean that Bama had beaten LSU and won the SEC. Bama would undoubtedly be in the NC game in that scenario. Smelley is not smart.
