Wow! He is sharp. He sounds like he did 15 years ago and sounds like he could still coach. Always respected him. He brought FSU up to the program they are and FSU will never return to that status.

Amazing man and coach. My Dad knew him from their Howard College days. Not enough words to describe my admiration for him. Thanks

Bowden was very creative offensively as a younger coach. He was aggressive in his play calling. He made FSU a power by his recruiting prowess and charming moms to send their kids to him. He took his teams on the road to play anyone. He wasn’t like UCF and demanding home and home series. He built his brand.

How naive can you be
Charming Moms ain't worth jack shyt without the bags of money to go along with it
What is it with Southern CFB fans that attempt to bestow sainthood on their Coaches when their career is over as if they didn't run dirty programs during their heyday
Just say the guy won a lotta games any way he could and leave it at that

quote:I’ll say that when I was growing up guys like Bowden and Holtz and Spurrier at least kept up the illusion that great players signed with them because they were fun to be around. Then when Saban was at LSU I thought, who in the hell would want to play for that guy!?

Yeah, it was when he was at LSU that you reached that conclusion.

If y'all ever get a chance watch the documentary on Coach Bowden.
Very fascinating & should have a movie honoring his life. Lots of adversity he faced as a young kid, overcoming it & becoming the legend he is.

Naïveté has nothing to do with it. He didn’t originally sign 5 stars. Regardless, he convinced those moms that’s he would take care of their boys.

This is the guy who should have been an analyst instead of Granny. For a gump, Bowden is a good man.
