Win a BCS game and come talk to me. (OU has one within the last three years).

You're gonna downplay your loss to aTm in the cotton bowl last year but then brag about beating UCONN in a BCS game?!!! That was the biggest joke of a matchup in BCS history.

don't worry

once DeLoss gets the heave-ho ESPN is going to call a pow wow between the A&M and Texas ADs and hammer out a deal. They will want it for their rivalry weekend.

I hope so.
I want to see a game at all SEC stadiums, but I care a hell of lot more about going to A&M than Arky. I also like the Black Friday game, and don't like my teams playing on Thanksgiving Day. Didn't even like it when the Saints played the Cowboys.(OK, I loved the outcome)

Pretty sure Ok doesn't give a shite about any bowls as of late.

We've won a BCS Bowl more recently than LSU, too. Not our fault it was against UCONN.

I think we are a better fit culturally. OU is honestly a mid-west school. Also, the schools are better.

Oklahoma is a decent school, but hardly top flight. Claiming Academics seems a bit silly.

That, and the whole state is, well, a hole. Lived there for a year. Ugh.

Lifelong Sooner fan, or couldn't get in to any major Texas schools?

I applied to A&M, LSU, and OU. Got accepted into all three. I liked OU the most.

People need to understand just because you don't go to one school doesn't mean you didn't get accepted into another. Some people choose schools over others because of certain majors, location, where they plan on living after graduating, etc.

The OKC and Lawton area is NICE. Don't care for Tulsa. When I think of "bad" states I look at the crime, income, poverty, etc. Oklahoma is not a bad place to raise a family. Then add in Dallas/Ft Worth is not far away.

Lawton? Not really but OKC/Edmond is nice.

And hell yeah we paid athletes back then, but here's the kicker: EVERYONE ELSE DID TOO. To suggest that we were paying players and everyone else were "amateurs" is laughable. Wasn't MSU one of the bidders on Cam Newton?

Can you find me one link anywhere that says MSU "bid" on Cam Newton? Just one link.

You can bet they were one of the bidders for Marcus Dupree.

Dupree didn't have the grades to get into State or Ole Miss.

OU has helped us win two BCS titles and for that we thank you. And please stop bragging about beating UCONN.

Not because of Sumlin or Johnny Football?

We'll never know, but the mere fact that A&M was coming into the SEC could well have played a big role in Sumlin taking the job.

I don't think Johnny Football and Kevin Sumlin were playing defense. I think playing in the SEC made us well suited to stop Belldozer, something no one you faced came close to doing. I think playing in the SEC made us come in to our own, and made us battle tested by the time we got to y'all. Had we played in the Big 12, I don't know if Johnny would have developed as fast as he did either. Iron sharpens iron. The A&M team that suited up against the Gators was not on the same level as the one that played the Sooners. I think there is something to be said for the toughness of the SEC schedule. I truly do. Sure, Arkansas and Auburn weren't great, but LSU, Alabama, Florida, hell even Ole Miss were all tough games. But that Oklahoma defense is one of the worst I've seen in a very long time, and I watched quite a few OU games(I always do they are my second most watched team bar none, too many Sooner ties not to.) So maybe it simply was Johnny. Although we did hold y'all to 13 points, and despite what some people think, Manziel didn't play safety.
This is a damn good post.

I didn't know you had it in you TeLeFaWx.

Our down years are when we go 10-3

So the following season over the last 20 years didn't happen?

2009 8-5
2005 8-4
1999 7-5
1998 5-6
1997 4-8
1996 3-8
1995 5-5-1
1994 6-6
1993 9-3

There's a 5-year stretch in which you didn't finish above .500.

The last time A&M had a streak like that was in the late-60's/early-70's.

To put it into perspective, that was also the last time A&M lost to TCU.

OU would be in the top half of the SEC. Those rankings are subjective as hell, the only schools clearly above us are Vandy, A&M, UF, UGA, and Mizzou.

If you use US News Rankings:

Vanderbilt
Florida
Georgia
Texas A&M
Alabama
Auburn
Missouri
Tennessee (tied with Oklahoma)

You would technically be in the BOTTOM half.

Look at the wins the University of Texas@Norman has each year. Kansas, Baylor, K-State, Iowa State, Okie State.

The state of Texas has to supply players for the entire conference.Recent NFL drafts seem to confirm that SEC has best players.

Weeden and Bradford are two more Big 12 busts.
