I love these 'pay the players' arguments. Pay them with what? IOU's? About 10% turn a profit each year. So yeah, let's pay the players, and generous too, let's give them 100% of the $0 dollars in profits. That should make everyone happy.

Dammit, I'm getting my Mizzou-fest persons of interest confused.
It's cool, happens to everyone.

Isn't this really just an excuse for Mizzou to cancel their game with Arkansas?

So I got the two confused. Apparently you haven't really been reading what I'm saying if you think I'm "spewing false info to prop up my position." I was making a point in saying that Mizzou might as well fire the guy before it gets worse if that's how the departments feel anyway, not agreeing with the protests whatsoever. Look at some of my other posts on this, you'll see where I stand.

You do realize, don't you, what ilk makes up the vast majority of those comprising college faculties
People with advanced degrees?
I mean I know some of you loath education despite loving college football but I don't think anyone would be that obvious about it.

People that have never experienced the free market (private sector ) would be more precise.

This hunger strike guy has mental illness. Maybe it's derived from abuse / discrimination; but maybe it's not. Either way, he just doesn't seem sane to me. That may be the most pressing issue here. Get him some help, then determine the factual legitimacy of the various claims.

A Missouri Tigers player said Sunday night that the entire team is not united over the decision to stop practicing until grad student Jonathan Butler ends his hunger strike. "As much as we want to say everyone is united, half the team and coaches -- black and white -- are pissed," the player, who wished to remain anonymous, told ESPN about stopping all football activities. "If we were 9-0, this wouldn't be happening."
The player, who is white, spoke on the condition of anonymity because the coaches told the team not to talk to the media because they thought the situation "would blow over eventually." On Sunday, coach Gary Pinkel and athletic director Mack Rhoades issued a statement that Missouri did not practice Sunday and indicated "it was clear" the Tigers "do not plan to return to practice until Jonathan resumes eating." Monday are regular off days for the football team and the coaches told the players to watch film on their own iPads and keep preparing for Saturday's game against BYU in Kansas City, the player said.
The player indicated they had been aware of Butler's hunger strike for several days. However, some black players didn't decide to take any action until Butler met with some players Saturday night. "Not everyone agrees with the decision (to stop all football activities)," the player said. "Most people are pissed, including the black guys (on the team)."

This has to be some type of PSYOP

They've also changed the narrative: First they weren't going to practice until the Prez resigns. Now it's, "not going to practice until Jonathan starts eating."
I've never had a negative thought about Gary Pinkel until today. What a fricking pussy he is.

No, the hunger strike guy, Jonathan Butler, is a grad student and activist in training. IMO, also a narcissist. This hunger strike is an attention ploy, and it's working.
Much of the faculty has expressed no confidence in Loftin, the University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor. Tim Wolfe is the University of Missouri System President. He oversees administration, funding, etc for Mizzou, UMKC, UMSL and UMS&T in Rolla, as well as the healthcare system and all the research facilities. He answers to the Board of Curators, which is comprised of 9 members appointed by the Governor. Because he oversees the purse strings, he's bound to piss people off on a regular basis, including faculty.
Heat has already been on these two based on the widespread faculty complaints. There have been some thing not handled well. This seems to be the icing on the cake, for the negative PR if nothing else. Not sure how they can move on and be effective unfortunately. Which is a shame, because neither of them have done anything "wrong" with respect to this issue of racism.
My biggest concern is that now the movement has its next hotspot. So far we've seen student activists. The professional agitators and organizers will be there soon. On the one hand, I don't want to see the administration held hostage by public overreaction. That's just chaos. But on the other, how can the be effective if the majority of students and faculty want them gone. The question is - is this really a majority, or just a small, vocal group of malcontents?

It's a good thing I didn't claim you were making that argument.
How about more reading and less assuming?

Perhaps they're just trying to back down from an extreme position stated when emotions were running high? Maybe they're rethinking things.
And as far as Pinkel - he's trying to keep the team together and limit the damage to recruiting. I think his statements have been pretty much the only thing he could say publicly.

Take away their scholarships and let the bastard on the hunger strike starve to death.
There is nothing special about Blacks that demands society should cater to their every whim and whine.
Life doesn't go your way sometimes. Deal with it.
