There is no doubt that he is a nice guy but where to you get that "the kids love him"?

Players and recruits go out of their way to say it. Even guys that have transferred etc. If you've met the man you know he is an incredible guy.

His job as HC is not "saveable" at this point. From what little I know, Billy Kennedy won't be fired but he will either be reassigned or retire after this season. Interest in a basketball program with 2 Sweet 16 runs in the last 3 years is the lowest it's been in a long time. It's been on a slow decline ever since Billy Gillispie up and left for UK. One way or another, Kennedy's time as a HC is near the end.

This is what I think, too. I really, really like Billy, and think he's a far better coach than he gets credit for, but I think this is almost certainly his last year as head coach of the Ags.

the kids play hard for him. gotta think that reflects how they feel about their coach. just need a few more years to let those young players develop and mature.

The buyout is only two million after like May 5th.

There is no motivation to pay him.
The athletic budget is stretched thin.
If a booster stepped up with 1 mil+ it could be done from what I heard.

But you have to account for the new contract as well

Some of you think A&M has a bag full of cash....
Sumlin was bought out because someone paid for it...

You know who's not going anywhere? Shaka. Talk about a stupid contract! Meanwhile, Barnes is killing it at UT.

What does Texas have to do with anything?

I come here to bring truth and facts and aggy gets triggered...

Like I said...
Tell Ol Sarge to sell that tool shed.
He don't need it. He is getting locked in it all the time anyway.

Then you might be closer to reaching your goal of buying out Kennedy

That's great and all but the problems with his regime are not going away. He is not a strong recruiter, the assistants that did the best job of that are no longer with the program. Roster management is an ongoing problem. He NEVER has a full roster of scholarship players. Consistently undersigns new recruits and doesn't do enough in the transfer market to make up for that. That's part of his problem this year, no depth, especially after Gilder's health issue cropped up.

Characteristics of his teams are poor free throw shooting, inconsistent defense, high turnover rate and player development has been spotty to say the least.

It's good to see the players competing hard while looking up at most of the other teams in the SEC standings. But those young players will have to develop under another HC.

I'd guess he will, too

A&M only loses Mekowulu, right? Should be in contention for a tourney bid next season and I don't know that A&M would fire a basketball coach one year removed from a Sweet Sixteen

Yes.

Yeesh I dk watching us this year. A healthy Gilder wouldn’t have put us in contention for a tourney bid this year, not close really. Maybe Wheeler and Harris make a huge difference as freshmen or Starks magically becomes an intelligent basketball player but I have a hard time seeing this group plus a couple new guards contending for a bid next year.

I agree I think he gets one more year if he wants it.

Doesn't look too good to just give a football coach a guaranteed $75 million contract and try to buy out a basketball coach who has take you to a couple of Sweet 16s for several million more,

Then turn around and beg the state legislature for $55 million more in academic funding because you've turned into a gargantuan diploma mill,

And STILL owe money on an interest-free $16 million loan from academics to athletics after going half a billion dollars in debt to enlarge your football stadium to accommodate SEC visitors (with state and local taxpayers and every aggy student on the hook for its payback for decades).

Aggy are not good financial stewards. Bailout (academic side) after bailout (state taxpayer) after bailout (getting a portion of the SEC's largess).

This is why nobody wants to do business with UT Austin; you have a culture of lying and corruption. You can't get along with anyone, because you have such deep-seated entitlement that you literally change the legislative rules in response to A&M doing a better job at demonstrating success, even by the measures which you came up with. So what do you do? You literally change the rules to ensure that your school gets more money. It's so fricking pathetic. Normal humans would hang their head in shame, but yall glory in your entitled culture. It's sad, really.

Everything I've read is that Flagg, Starks and Nebo are all gone if Kennedy stays.
