While I was at Alabama, there were some wonderful people who were helpful to our program all the way through. People like Winton Blount, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Blount was always up front and always made his position very clear. But there were people then and there are some now -- people in positions of power, who can undermine a coach -- who do not make their positions clear.

I mean, that happens when you go 0-3 against Auburn.

Well he wasn’t mistreated at Kentucky. He just sucked.

The question may be asked if it was too quick to pull the trigger on Mike DuBose's coaching career at Alabama. There are two requirements as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The first is to withstand -- indeed, flourish under -- the intense demands and rich tradition of the program. The second is to have a "family" connection -- that is, to come from Bear Bryant's family of players.
RIP

Funny, the BAMA fans felt the same way.

Curry at UK was among our most bleak periods in a history of long winters.
Watching undersized kids run option football against SEC heavyweights was brutal.

Yeah, but what football coach looked better in a sweater on game day?

I miss the formatting of websites in the old internet. Wasn't expecting to get nostalgic when I clicked that link.

Boo freaking hoo.
When you agree to come coach at a school like Alabama, there are high expectations. 1 of those is winning of course, but you can't beat Auburn, Bye Bye!

A perfectly good window went to waste because of Bill Curry.

Remember. When curry arrived Bama was in the toilet. Bryant’s last year Southern Mississippi smashed Alabama at home. Then Perkins who was the giant that was going to save the program sank it even more. Curry recruited a national championship team from nothing but the Bryant boys had him fired. The next coach who had an average record wins a championship with Curry’s team then down hill. That is a fact jack.

Yea none of that is true. Perkins is the one who inherited the team that lost to USM at home, not Curry. Perkins inherited a depleted roster from Bryant and recruited his arse off for 4 years. Curry inherited an Alabama team that went 19-5 his last 2 seasons and finished in the Top 15 twice (#13 and #9). Curry inherited Derrick Thomas, Bobby Humphrey, Howard Cross and Keith McCants from Perkins.
The 1992 team had some Curry guys (Lassic, Houston, Curry, Teague) but mostly Stallings guys (Barker, Williams, Anderson, Palmer, Langham, Donnely, Johnson, Shade, Copeland).

That's not a "fact" at all.

Kentucky is historically a 2nd rate bottom feeder in SEC football.
Curry did suck but so did/does Kentucky for over 100 years.

Based on what?
Derek Lassic was a big time recruit who didn’t really do anything until his senior year. Who else?
