Uhhhh, no.

C.M. Newton did fire him though, and he was a former Alabama basketball coach, but that doesn't count.

Bunch of other rumors that went around too...none of course legitimate as no bama fan has ever acted in a classless or illegal manner, ever.

He claimed a fan threw a brick through his window after a L of course. Spurrier hated him and his pompous arse after Curry wouldn't consider retaining him when Pepper Rogders was fired at Tech. I never could figure why Bama hired an ex Ga Tech guy who was a really good center at Tech in the sixties. Back then there was no love lost between the two schools. Im sure the Bear rolled over in his grave when Curry was hired.

There's no doubt that Alabama is the most successful program.

However, it's not due to the inherent superiority of Alabama. When you've had shitty coaches you have sucked. Ray Perkins, Mike Dubose, Mike Shula, etc. Between 2000-2007 you guys were barely above the Mendoza line.

You won the lottery when Rich Rod turned you down and you convinced Saban to come. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you'd still be treading water.

Alabama was so penalized for cheating that they played from 2001 to 2005 with scholarship numbers around the FCS level.

Bobby Bowden wanted the job, but our Pres. wanted Bill Curry.

My uncle had drove to a regional airport to pick up some Auburn coach that was speaking at their QB club banquet the night Curry quit. Since this was before cell phones and such the coach had no idea the news about Curry. My uncle was the one that told him and he said he had never heard as many goddamns and motherfrickers in his life.

And yet all those loser coaches you mentioned, beat LSU and had 10 win seasons. Think about that!

Bowden was interested, but Alabama insisted on an interview with any candidate. Bowden was insulted by the requirement and told the BoT to kiss his arse...and I don't blame him.

Curry is the reason Spurrier ran up the score when playing UK

Curry got the job Spurrier wanted and it stuck in the old ball coaches craw

Five different head coaches have won championships at Alabama, and two of those are considered to be the GOAT. So either great coaches grow on trees, or it has something to do with Alabama.

Envy can be so blinding.

And still finished 1st in the West in 2002.
