There is one reason. It's the revenue for a home game. Away teams don't split the gate 50/50. The game you're wanting to eliminate is an extra home game for each and every team in the conference. The 9th conference game will only result in a pay day for 7 of the 14 teams each and every year.
One of the reasons LSU is doing the neutral site games with Wisconsin is so both teams can make money that year.

Lawsuits? On what grounds?
It's not the big school's job to make sure smaller schools survive. Now some state legislatures might get involved, but that still wouldn't result in lawsuits.

It wouldn't surprise me if you started seeing FCS schools suing for anti-trust violations. In exchange for dropping the suits the BIG drops the rule.

Yea, I see your point but you're still looking at 2 less slots for conference USA,MAC or whichever to get a payday...might be addition by subtraction.

One reason schools like UGA,USC,UF and UK had somewhat of a disadvantage because of their home and home in state rivalry games...at least this plan would put everybody on a somewhat level playing field.

I agree with this but if you have the P5 colluding to not schedule FCS teams you are opening a whole big can of worms. Im not against the idea but there are some legal issues involved. Forcing teams to schedule a p5 team outside the conference is one thing, eliminating FCS all together by all the p5 is another thing.

Agree with you about the lawsuits just responding to the LSU guy regarding lost revenue from losing an extra home game.

The main reason I want 9 conference games is because it's insane that you go TWELEVE years to fully rotate through the other division.
Also, I've been saying we need to drop playing FCS opponents for a long time. It's freaking embarassing. There are FBS conferences you should be able to find rent a wins in.
They should pass a rule that basically says, you aren't allowed to schedule an FCS team unless you miss a bowl for 2 straight seasons. At that point fine, you're allowed to schedule one.

All you have to do is look at OSU's pathetic schedule this year to see why they're doing this.
OSU is already in compliance. VT has played in more BCS Bowls since 2010 than Tennycheat has played in the last 17 years.
UNI is a conference champ and has played in more BCS bowls than Tennycheat in this decade.
An SEC East team trying to knock OSU's schedule? be careful..we'll send last place Indiana down to beat your champ again.

So you want every SEC team to play a power 5 OOC game, an extra conference game AND still have to play in a conference championship game at the end of the year?
Until they expand the playoff to 8 teams (at least another 5 years away) it is unlikely that two-loss teams will have much luck making the bracket. It is already tough enough to navigate the SEC without losing more than one game without adding an extra conference game and requiring what will often be a tough OOC game.
Meanwhile, out in the ACC you have essentially a two program league and the Big XII doesn't even play a CC game. Certain leagues have a HUGE advantage in that it is easier to produce zero and one loss teams. This would just widen that gap.
No two-loss SEC team is getting in over undefeated FSU/Baylor/TCU/etc.

We already have that rule.

I guess OSU fans believe in transitive property in college football.
That would make sense because you would be hard pressed to find an non idiot mouth breather OSU fan most of the time.

Did you just realize you are an Ohio State fan on an SEC message board as well?
