They are taking a different approach. They don't want flash in the pan SEC Championship seasons.

Technically, both did get worse by 2 conference wins.
However, Sumlin already has 10 SEC conference wins. He may hit 20 before Bert hits 1.

but for serious, we knew going in to last year that A&M's defensive depth was arse and might be forced to rely on a ton of freshman if everything didn't work out exactly right. Why? Because we knew Sherman hadn't done all that great recruiting it. So guys got hurt and it didn't work out.
The biggest difference is we know that A&M needs better recruits for the D and aren't forced to push some silly "star gazer" narrative to feel better about a HC getting his arse kicked in recruiting.

sorry for hoping petrino's recruiting wasn't as bad as it really was
bert has proven to be able to win at a high level in a major conference with less than stellar recruiting. Now he's at a school with better facilities with which to recruit and develop with, it can only help. which gives us reason to be optimistic about the future with bert leading tFlagship.

the turds bert was left with to polish were finally getting pretty shiny towards the end of the season. LSU almost lost to our shiny turds.

Arkansas is currently ranked 32rd in recruiting. Petrino's classes were ranked 24th, 40th, 16th. I didn't count the 2012 or 2008 classes since neither coach had much impact on them.
I don't really see your point. I mean yes, Petrino was a good recruiter but he was definitely no worse and arguably better than Bielema so far.
