A long snapper in the NFL is equal parts awesome and waiting for the ax to fall.
You are a protected player, you do your job, and you get 300K or whatever the minimum is every year. I don't know if a long snapper ever gets more, but whatever the minimum is is pretty terrific. Plus, if you make it 7 years, you get a nice monthly pension too.
Downside is, if you frick something up, you're on the next flight out of town.

Fred Ross probably most surprising to me overall from SEC.
From LSU it would definitely be DE Lewis Neal IMO. I thought a team for sure would take a 6th or 7th round flyer on him. 6'1 261 pounds and showed he could play outside in a 4-3 and on the end in a 3-4. Ran a 4.72 at pro day, had a 36" vertical with long arms (33 3/8") and a big wingspan (80 1/2"). Not to mention the guy is very smart and has a great head on his shoulders.
As a junior in a 4-3:
48 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 8 sacks, 6 pass breakups, 1 FF
As a senior in a 3-4:
60 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 1 pass breakup
Pretty productive player, started his last 2 years.

Stringfellow from OM
Ross from MSU
Neal from LSU
Leff from AU
Vereen from UT- most surprising
As far as AU goes Leff had measurables but was a one hit wonder and the stigma regarding AU's OL philosophy is still strong in the NFL. Gus giving up the reigns should help.

Aarion Penton was 2nd in SEC in Passes defended and 2nd in Ints
Solid tackler for CB

Stats like that can be really misleading. Don't know if he was that good or just got picked on a helluva lot.
For instance let's have 2 examples:
Corner A
Plays 95% of snaps
Thrown at 98 times in 1 season
Had 3 INT & 9 pass breakups
Stats against were 51 for 98, 490 yards, 1 TD
Corner B
Played 95% of snaps as well
Thrown at 198 times in 1 season
Has 5 INT & 16 pass breakups
Stats against were 121 for 198, 1685 yards, 8 TD
Corner B's stats clearly look better looking at simply INT and pass breakups but he was obviously not the better corner between the 2, and got picked on. Corner B probably has a lot more tackles than Corner A as well (which isnt necessarily a good thing).
Passer rating against Corner A is only 91.3
Passer rating against Corner B is 140.9

Too many comparable players to Ross. I do think he could play some in the NFL.

I am not surprised at any of those guys going undrafted. Chad Kelly would have been a shock.

Dead serious.
There really should be some sort of solution that's designed specifically to remedy the situation with kickers, Punters, Long snappers, etc. These guys are critical for a team to succeed and yet the vast majority of them get shite in terms of initial pay and even into their second contract because the NFL rarely drafts those positions. The league gets away with underpaying them to the point of highway robbery.

Darius English tied for second with 9 sacks as a rush linebacker and defensive end this year

Fred Ross was great until last year... i think he forgot how to catch or Dak really was that good and made it super easy for him to catch the ball. I'm fairly certain he was projected 4th round after junior season and he chose to return and had a really really bad year. He's nothing special but i do think he has as good a shot to make a roster probably better than most UDFA.
Are you kidding me? This past year he had 917 yards with 12 touchdowns behind a new QB who ran first and threw later. Where were you? Fred Ross has the ability to get
separation, position himself blocking out a CB and runs great routes. He is not the fastest receiver but fast enough to allow him to do all things above.
