That is a shite ton of red, of course they sold out their allotted corner section that a lot of teams do but they seem to be overflowing their higher up section. Looks like they dominate that entire side of the stadium in fact.
Heres a video on that game, ND won but they said Nebraska was only allotted 4,000 tix.

When I was in Seattle for last season's opener, there were a few different locals that claimed LSU fans traveled better than Oklahoma and Ohio St. had in recent years. FWIW, we also had a waiter say LSU had the craziest fans he ever saw and the bartender on our boat said we were the most obnoxious.

Va Tech has always impressed me with the way they travel. Went to the VT-UGA peach bowl several years ago and the crowd was about 50 50 which is pretty damn impressive for being an hour from Athens...
VT brought a good number of people to LSU in 2007, sorry we kicked the shite out of them, but it was a great time because it was a couple of months removed from the tragedy. The hospitality from LSU fans was surreal. We were literally grabbing them as they walked by to tailgate with us to try the cuisine. This was the best time I've ever had at an LSU football game- the environment, the tailgating, and the game. I hope we play them again. I don't think I heard one LSU fan, drunk or sober, "tigerbait" them =
As for the SEC, Tennessee travels very well. Everytime they have came to BR, they fill up the visitor section of the south endzone and the upperdeck. That's a long way from Knoxville. Not a very friendly fanbase, might I add. I understand many opposing fans are dicks but it seemed majority of them were. Hell, some ole miss/Bama fans are fun to tailgate with when they come to BR, not Tenn.

That's because it's a bowl game, the tickets are evenly split. It could've been held at Sanford and the ticket distribution would still have been the same.
I don't have any sort of analysis, but I do know that UGA had about 15-20,000 go to Tempe in 2008. There were literally thousands of people who went all the way out there and didn't even go into the game, they just went so they could go to Arizona. I imagine you'll see more of the same in Boulder this fall. I would expect maybe 10-12,000 go out there.

LSU is decent for traveling but not even close to Bama, Notre Dame, and a lot of others who are not on our level like Va Tech

Texas...hands down the most well traveled.

Our opener is usually in Atlanta. Does that count?
btw... you can't diss 'Bama fans on this issue. We/they go to games. No matter where it is.... and the NC game does count. Pasadena is a LONG way from here.

Not on your level? All the teams you just mentioned have more tradition and national titles than your "up and coming" program.

IMHO, Notre Dame shouldn't count. They are a lot like Steelers fans, who don't really travel as much as there is just a lot of them.
Notre Dame probably had the biggest fanbase in the nation by far until the early to late 90's. I think the younger generation who's parents were ND fans kind of got away from it.

Notre Dame didn't even sell out their allotment to the 2006 Sugar Bowl.

We took 15,000 or so to UCLA in 2000. There were better than 10,000 at Oklahoma in 2002. Our bowl games have been 60% 'Bama fans, or better.

There were at least 20,000, maybe 25,000 Bama fans there in 2000.

Its funny, one of my friends graduated from UF and now goes to Arizona for grad school, and when she talked about traveling to games they looked at her like she had three heads. They said you never see other schools fans at a home game.
I have traveled quite a bit and we do pretty well ourselves. As far as games in the Swamp, LSU and UT bring way more than Bama.

Tennessee usually brings the most to BDS.
I wasn't very impressed with the Texas crowd in Pasadena last season. All we heard is how we'd be lucky to own a quarter of the crowd and it ended up being 50/50 if not 60/40 Alabama.

I always hear about Notre Dame, but they didn't bring shite to the Sugar Bowl in 2006.
Considering they'd lost 8 in a row and were predicted to get curb stomped again, it was not a half bad showing.

Tennessee filled a 1/3 of the stadium for the home opener in Pasadena two years ago. I would think we are in the top ten. Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma are certainly up there. LSU, Bama, and UF seemed to bring the most fans during the 4 years I spent in Knoxville.

were you at the game? we were outnumbered easily.

I have no clue about nationally, out of all the OM games it's always been Bama and LSU, but this past year the most visiting fans was Tenn. It looked like they brought 20k but maybe it was because that wasn't such a hot ticket game as the other two and early in the morning that kept our "amazing" fan support in the grove
