When y'all caved to the anti 2A crowd and changed it to the Red River Rivalry I lost a lot of respect for the game.
Same game, different name.
Sponsors dictate more than I care for, but we ain’t turning down that money.

But I find it hard to believe any Bama fan would pick the Vol game over Auburn.
It's generational. BAMA vs Tenn was all that and then some back in the 20th century. Coach Bryant made it his personal battleground, and that was his experience growing up. Fans knew that and acted accordingly.
It just became hate after the great pumpkin destroyed the respect the fan base once had for each other. I would call the Nick Saban era the great payback and good riddance to a once-great rivalry.

Games separating rivals in games played since 1980:
3- Texas vs Oklahoma (OU leads 24-21)
5- Auburn vs Alabama (Bama leads 25-20)
5- Georgia vs Florida (Georgia leads 25-20)
5- Ole Miss vs Miss St (OM leads 25-20)
9- Texas vs Texas A&M (TX leads 22-13)
11- Auburn vs Georgia (UGA leads 28-17-1)
18- Alabama vs Tennessee (AL leads 31-13-1)

1-coattail riders from Austin 17 vs Ags 16
That makes it the closest SEC rivalry since 1980.

Move it back to 1975 (50 years for those who suck at math), and both schools have 19 wins.
Texans don't need some silly recognition from SEC fans as far as what's the best rivalry, but that certainly qualifies as one of the best in CFB.

I've never claimed it is, but it's been a very competitive one the last 50 years. Moreso than a lot of SEC folks around here seem to recall, but that's not surprising either.

Im glad UT can punch back now. Gonna make the rivalry fun again

Just speaking about rivalries in general here:
Texas vs. Texas A&M will never be the popular pick for "best rivalry", but I think it's one of the most real ones in the country. There's nothing fake about it.
Agree.
It’s much more hatred than fake UTrans / oU bromance bullshite.
Obviously bama / aubie, LSU / bama, Georgia / Florida are way up there.

Needs an update. Texas leads 17-16 since 1980.
Also, any rivalry where one team brands and therefore assists in naming the other team's mascot is a huge rivalry.

TSIO is most definitely a cultural state of being for those whose family has been united by supporting both of these respective football programs over the generations. It's the rivalry that put major Southern college football on the map nationally back in the day. Nobody has beaten Tennessee football more than Alabama has. And nobody has beaten Alabama as much as Tennessee has.
Anyone who supports either school that thinks it would be no big deal if we lost the annual TSIO matchup is an idiot who doesn't know anything about the programs they claim to cheer on. This game matters a lot to many people and always has.
I get all that but you completely missed my question.
I get that everybody wants to win the game.
But do Tennessee people think they are better human beings than Alabama people... or vice versa...
Because that is what you have at Texas vs. OU (or even Texas vs. Arkansas).
Texans truly think they are a better class of human being than any Okie or Arkie. And Longhorns tend to think that they are at the top of the heap as far as being a Texan.
Again, do Alabama and Tennessee people have that dynamic at all?

Florida vs Georgia isn’t comparable to RRR
Look newb...most of us still consider Arkansas and South Carolina as the new guys. Florida and Georgia are a significant part of our conference's founding and they'll still be here after the conference comes to their senses and gets rid of the OU's of the world.
I only recognize Charter members of the league and to be honest, I consider Tulane, Georgia Tech, and Sewanee more of a part of our family than I do any of the additions. I do like having Arkansas somewhat and SC.
The rest of the additions are just for eyeballs on the TV.

Big words for a program that can’t hold OU’s jock.
You’re lucky your school joined a conference that 120+ years later became the SEC. If you joined the ACC or Big 12 you’d be no more relevant than the Oklahoma states and baylors of the world.

lol. Nobody gives a crap. Does the game even have a name? What’s the series record over the last half century?
How many SeC or Natl titles were at stake?
UT is 15-35 in the last 50 meetings lol. Some rivalry. Auburn is 22-28 vs Bama in the same period, if chat gpt isn’t hallucinating.

Big words from a fan of a school that has never beaten Ole Miss in football. Not once.

Yes and yes. Deep down, we know we’re the same. It’s akin to the Tennessee/Kentucky rivarly. As much shite as we give each other, we’re brothers at the end of the day. We’re not quite as culturally similar to the Gumps as we are to the Big Blue Nation faithful, but pretty close nonetheless. All SEC fans know their fanbases have plenty of fat, poor, trashy fans, but it’s part of the fun to act like your fanbase has less of them as a percentage compared to your biggest rivals’ fanbases. If they hit you with an unflattering picture of a couple fellow fans captured on national television looking like white trash at a sporting event, punch back with random statistics that supposedly prove your state is less trashy than your rival’s state. Or, if you really want to keep digging, making it an academic pissing contest and hit them with the latest U.S. News rankings

I will also add that arrogance from a Texan is unmatched. Some SEC rivalries give off the “we’re classier than them” attitude (e.g. Tennessee/Vanderbilt, Ole Miss/Miss. St). But it’s nothing like how Texas fans are to their rivals. Being arrogant is part of the Longhorn psyche.
