No way Pat Dye would have let a little thing like getting Mama a job get in the way of bringing Emmitt to Auburn. Sounds like you got outbid

Yeah, Bo kinda sucked his freshman year. All he did was get named to the First Team All-SEC squad. He sucked even more his senior year when all he won was...
Heisman Trophy (1985)
Walter Camp Award (1985)
SEC Player of the Year (1985)
SN Player of the Year (1985)
UPI Player of the Year (1985)
Unanimous All-American (1985)

The difference is Herschel finished 3rd in Heisman voting his freshman year (and really should have won it, but there was bias against underclassmen). He finished second in Heisman voting his sophomore year and won it his Junior year.
He also won the walter camp, Maxwell, UPI and SN player of the year. He was SEC player of the year for 3 straight seasons and was a unanimous all-american for 3 straight seasons.
So yeah, Herschel was great for 3 years. Bo was great his last year, but fell well short of Herschel his other two.
Herschel had the best 3 year career of any college football player ever. Not just the SEC.

Its Cam Newton on offense and I don't think its particularly close.

Tell us about the time Bo put the entire team o. His back and carried it to a National Title
I will wait

i understand bo is really cool and the multi sport thing is undoubtedly super impressive. unfortunately, herschel walker exists and is just a better football player.
honestly, tim tebow is a perfectly acceptable and possibly the right answer if it's not herschel.

You mean like Herschel did in 1980? Oh, wait, I hear something....what's that? ..... a faint echo......sounds like
RUUUUNN LINDSAY RUUUUUUUUUUN
Herschel didn't do everything.
Bo shared carries in a better backfield, but had less of a passing game to take the pressure off him.
They are 1a and 1b, and you can dig into stats as deep as you want, but you'll never get a clear separation between the two without cherry picking stats.

1982
You are implying that Bo Jackson's freshman year (829 rushing yards and 9 rushing TDs) was better than Herschel Walker's junior season?
(1752 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs)
Bo was voted in over Herschel the same year Herschel won the Heisman?

He didn't play defense.
But check out the 1981 sugar bowl again and tell me what he did and didn't do.

Herschel's 3 years are better than Bo's 4.
Bo's best single season isn't better than Herschel's best single season. And Herschel put 2 more single seasons right along side his best one (thus the 3 years being better than Bo's 4).
If you don't see separation, then you are choosing to ignore it.
That's a choice.

Cam Newton has a very real claim for being the GOAT SEC Player. 20-0 in games he played, 54 td's and won the heisman/MNC in his season as a starter while leading Auburn to it's 1st title in >50 years with a clown for his HC that got fired 2 years later. And he wasn't surrounded by nfl all pro WR's ala Burrow

Since you are flinging shite against the wall...
UGA passing offense 1980-1982= 141.3 yards per game and 1.13 TDs per game.
Auburn passing offense 1982-1985 = 125.1 yards per game and 0.6 TDs per game.

It is funny that I dug into the stats and found your anecdotes full of shite.

Herschel Walker and Champ Bailey.

The difference is what you said in your first post and what I was responding to was flat out stupid, implying that Bo was only good his sophomore and junior years (he was hurt part of his junior year, btw).
Bo didn't put up the numbers Herschel did because he was in a very different offense. Both were great running backs. Bo wasn't too bad at baseball either, though he preferred hunting and fishing over both.
