UVA 1998 for me. I think we all knew it was going to be an awful season after Craig was gone, but this cemented it
Best win- maybe last year against UW #6. Too bad the season went to hell.

Worst opening loss for AU is easy: 2003 vs USC. This game cost us the 2004 NC.

I'm guessing the Viles fans here have a new response to this post now

Best: When we beat Clemson 45-21 in 2014.
I'll nominate 2005 Boise State. There were national writers thinking Boise had a very legitimate chance to win that game and Georgia absolutely obliterated them.
The worst loss was when Boise got their revenge in 2011 and beat the shite out of us in Atlanta. The embarrassing uniforms were the cherry on top of that shite sundae.

Must be.
Beating UCLA on national TV under the lights in 1983 at Sanford is up there for opening game wins.
A lot of older fans would say 1982 Clemson and probably have a very distant gap between that and the second best, but that was 7 years before I was born so I can't say that one.

For Mississippi State I'd say our best opening win was 1992 when we defeated Texas in Austin 28-10
Was that when Jackie castrated the bull?
That was phenomenal.

Best win may be 2014 Boise State. They went on to win the Fiesta bowl. 2013 @ Vandy was really fun. Think they won 8 that year. Worst loss was Jacksonville State 2010 although today was fricking miserable.

Carroll's USC teams were disturbingly good in big games away from home. The only ones I remember them losing once he got it rolling were 2002 Washington State and 2007 Oregon. They had a knack for going into a jacked up opponent's house and beating the hell out of them. Most of their losses were to unranked teams, such as Oregon State in 2006 and 2008.
