also, just on pure hype factor.. the OSU-Michigan 2006 mathcup was bigger.. there have been several FSU-Miami games that were bigger in every way..
christ dude, there have been games involving fricking Alabama that were more hyped, meant more, and had more talent..

all ive done is given you facts, that you choose to ignore.. and as much as it hurts you to read it, these Bama and Florida teams are not two of the best of all time.. get over it.. i can admit that this Texas team is not as great as past champions, or that neither of LSU's championship teams were 'elite' champions.. but frick, even LSU's shitty 2007 team would beat these two teams..
DO WHUT?
LSU in '07 lost to Arkansas and Kentucky GTFO.

Beat 6 of the top 15 ranked teams that year. I would not call that shitty. No other team came close to that, that year.

Did you forget the two regular season losses? Jesus and you folks call "gumps" delusional.

come on dude.. both of these team needed everything they had to get by a terrible LSU team this year.. as well as an awful Tennessee team..
im not saying that the wins shouldnt count, or that when the winner inevitably goes on to win the NC, you guys shoulndt enjoy it, and be able to say that you were the best team this year.. but wrangle in your retarted arse fricking fan base that thinks college football wasnt played between 1992 and 2008..

They also lost to two of them.
Not to mention when I say this is the best matchup in history and your response is "LSU 07 would beat them both". You easily prove a point that you aren't intelligent nor coherent enough to keep this conversation moving.
I already addressed why this game is bigger than USC/UT 2006 but I openly admit that is probably the next best and it is close.
946 Army vs. Notre Dame- No info.
1966 Notre Dame vs. Michigan State No info.
1967 USC vs. UCLA No info.
1969 Texas vs. Arkansas No info.
1971 Nebraska vs. Oklahoma - Only one someone has actually posted info on. Clearly Nebraska could be considered the best team of the century but there's nothing that lends credence to OU's being worthy of the matchup.
1987 Miami vs. Penn State No info.
1993 Florida State vs. Notre Dame No info.
2009 Bama vs. Florida
Widely considered the top 2 coaches in college football.
24-2 vs. 25-1, 12-0 vs. 12-0, #1 vs #2,
Tebow widely considered the greatest college football player ever.
Former heisman trophy winner and a game involving 2 of the top heisman trophy candidates this year.
Rematch of the 2008 game.
More NFL talent in one game than possibly ever.
I'll add to this in a bit.

Yes that's some sick info on Nebraska, but nothing on OU.
You'll have to do better.
Proof you are clueless.

That year they beat down:
#17, #3, #6, and #5, losing only to the best team ever by 4 points on a late score.

Arrakis
I'll admit I don't know anything about the '71 OU or '71 Nebraska except from links you have posted.
I will say their strength of schedule is better than both Alabama's and Florida's this year.
From what I see:
OU had a strong schedule that year but this was just a regular season game and both teams had games after this one.
Also it may be my age but I've never heard of Delaney or Fairbanks. I don't know how much respect they had as HC's.
Outland trophy's and All Americans for Nebraska carry a lot of weight, got any info for OU from that year? Easy to compare Number of all conference and all americans across decades, not easy to compare stats.
Not sure I follow all the flames, Arrakis has provided one example of a game that matches the hype and it's considered the game of the century.
So to reiterate out of all you morons who call me delusional only 2 games have been provided that compare to this one, and I feel substaniated in my reasoning why this year's game is better than the 2006 rose bowl.
If you want delusional I could gladly bump some preseason McElroy threads, or all the LSU rantards predictions of Bama this year.

I like doing things your way.. here ya go..
2006 USC vs. Texas
The top coach, and one of the top coaches at the time
37-1(25-0) vs. 23-1, 12-0 vs. 12-0, #1 vs #2,
Reggie Bush, Vince Young.. TWO of the best college football players ever
TWO Heisman trophy winners and a game involving the top 2 heisman trophy candidates that year.
USC 2-time defending national champions
USC 34 game winning streak
Texas defending Rose Bowl champions
Game played in the best bowl game (Rose Bowl)
More NFL talent in one game than possibly ever.

the fact that you admittedly dont know much about the history of CFB, yet dont want to listen to everybody trying to tell you things, is why you are getting the responses.. hell man, you dont even have any other Bama fans in here taking your side..
there have been a lot of games that WERE bigger than this one, on a national scale, in the last 20 years.. you can argue all you want, but its the truth..
1993 Notre Dame-Florida Sate is another on that comes to mind..
