To be fair, how many off this list are now starting:

quote:

Four players who participated in the game went on to become top ten picks in the 2006 NFL Draft: Reggie Bush (2nd overall, New Orleans), Vince Young (3rd overall, Tennessee), Michael Huff (7th overall, Oakland), and Matt Leinart (10th overall, Arizona). Taitusi Lutui, Fred Matua, LenDale White, David Kirtmen, Winston Justice, Cedric Griffin, David Thomas, Frostee Rucker, Dominique Byrd, Darnell Bing, Jonathan Scott, LaJuan Ramsey, and Rodrique Wright were drafted in the next six rounds

I'm not completely sure myself. I know Young is now starting...

Alabama's qb is not what I consider firepower. When the only player on offense that touches the ball 99% of the time is Greg McElroy, you have to re-think this firepower that you're talking about.

Give me a break. After the game, we will see where this compares to other great games. My guess is that it will be in the top 100 ever. What an accomplishment.

If the game turns out to be close it will be Top 10 imo. One of the greatest college atheletes of our time is in his senior year. Two undefeated teams in the SECCG. #1 vs. #2 Defenses in the country. Gross talent on both sides of the ball. Defending national champions vs. Saban in his 3rd year at Bama. You can go on and on.

Cody - No Doubt
Dareus- No Doubt
Deaderick - He'll be drafted no question, starter in a few years is more of a prediction
RoLO- Of course
Eric Anders - My biggest stretch, but he'll get drafted
Nico Johnson- True Freshman, but just wait (this would be Hightower if he wasn't injured)
Javy - No question
Kareem Jackson - He'll get drafted, he's better than a lot of former UA DB's who have played in the NFL.

So cut out the smiley face bullshite, or I'll have to bump this around draft time. I'm not making outlandish claims, you just don't know Bama's roster enough to see something that's obviously staring you in the face.

Getting drafted and starting in the NFL are two entirely different animals. You can't predict whether the majority of those guys will indeed be starters.

All better than this year's matchup. ARK/TX '69 and NEB/OU in '71 will always be on the top of the list. Coaches, players, records, the actual game....they had it all and then some.

i hope you do bump it.. because you listed 16 players and said they would all start... crawfish all you want now..

fact is, Bama is not an explosive or overly talented team.. for that matter, this UF team is a shell of its formere self..

like i said on the first page.. just because UAt is playing football again, doesnt mean the rest of college football hasnt been for the last 15 years..

Why this game is not epic(as seen by the rest of the world)
yong, inexperienced QB for Bama
Julio 'all he does is drop TD passes' Jones
Mark Ingram's dissaperaing act against Aubrn
The fact that LT is probably the Bama team MVP
Florida's offense is a sputtering mess compared to last year
Dunlap will not be playing
Tebow's injuries

Bama 24-2 in their last 26, Florida 25-1 over the same stretch.

Probably considered the top two coaches currently in college football.

12-0 vs. 12-0, #1 vs #2, what could you possibly present from all these other games Arrakis that BEAT these qualifications?

I've given you plenty of factual information for why this is the best matchup ever and you just offer a year and a matchup. That isn't going to be good enough.

I'm certainly willing to admit Texas vs. USC is right there with it, but I stand by that in the long run you'll see more NFL impact from this game than from that one, and the coaching matchup along with this being a rematch gives this year's matchup the edge.

Who have I listed that you believe won't be drafted?

It works both ways.

Just checked first mock draft I saw on google.

Mclain -top 10
Cody - late first
Kareem - 2nd
Javy - 2nd
Mike Johnson - 3rd (it only listed first 3 round)

this ia actually a decent argument.. thanks for bringing it up..

USC was 37-1 over the 3 seasons (25-0 over the last two) leading up to the 2006 Rose Bowl, and riding a 34 game winning streak

Texas was 23-1 over the two seasons leading up to the 2006 Rose Bowl

You don't think Tebow will be 100%???? wtf?
Julio has had dramatic improvement his last 3 games where the hell have you been?
Ingram had a hip pointer yes, but TR we'll make sure there isn't any talent drop off at RB. Remember Maruice Clarett in '02?

I have an idea instead of being an LSU rantard and trying to poke a whole in my matchup (unsuccessfully). Why don't you suggest a better game in the last 100 years?

Otherwise stfu and gtfo and I'll have an intelligent debate with Arrakis who seems to be the only person capable of making an actual argument (although he leaves a lot to be desired in the tone of actual information).

OK, then pay attention and learn:

Facts about OU/NEB

quote:

On Thursday, November 25, 1971, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, defending national champions, ranked #1 with a 29-game winning streak played the Oklahoma Sooners, ranked Number 2.

quote:

Nebraska had the nation’s top-ranked defense. Oklahoma had the nation's most productive offense with their wishbone averaging over 472 rushing yards per game, a NCAA record.

quote:

The Husker "Blackshirts" defense included seven first-team All-Big Eight selections, four players who would earn consensus All-America recognition during their careers and two Outland Trophy winners: middle guard Rich Glover and tackle Larry Jacobson. Glover would win both the Outland and Lombardi awards in 1972 and eventually be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. They were joined in the starting lineup by end Willie Harper, like Glover, a two-time All-American. John Dutton, an All-American in 1973, was a sophomore backup. This defense is still considered by many to be the greatest in college football history.

quote:

The Husker offense was led by flanker, Johnny Rodgers, who would go on to win the Heisman Trophy the next season

Did I mention this already?
quote:

The Cornhuskers went on to the 1972 Orange Bowl and soundly defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide, then ranked # 2, by a dominating score of 38-6.

The LOSER of that game beat the crap out of Auburn and Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan:
quote:

Auburn was the team Oklahoma would end up playing, in the Sugar Bowl, and the Sooners won, 40-22.

You are long on blind enthusiasm and short on facts. But, props for entertaining us with your thread.

oh.my.god

i was the first person in the thread to give you a game that was better..

all ive done is given you facts, that you choose to ignore.. and as much as it hurts you to read it, these Bama and Florida teams are not two of the best of all time.. get over it.. i can admit that this Texas team is not as great as past champions, or that neither of LSU's championship teams were 'elite' champions.. but frick, even LSU's shitty 2007 team would beat these two teams..

Thanks Arrakis so Nebraska was the best team ever and from the sounds of it beat a mundane #2 OU?

Yes that's some sick info on Nebraska, but nothing on OU.

You'll have to do better.
