Yep, so he left because his AD was cheap as frick as wasn't doing enough to help out his assistants.

No, from what I've seen Alvarez is very arrogant

This!!!!! I posted a thread about Alvarez' hubris and of course none of you fricktards bothered to read the article. It really shone a light on what Alvarez' mindset was. He threw Chryst under the bus, saying he pulled a lot of strings to get him the job at Pitt, so he wouldn't be considered at Wisky. He said he might interview Petersen, which Boise St. put out a comment that Petersen nor the AD had been contacted and that he wouldn't be interviewing at Wisconsin.

Point Blank, Alvarez is a shitty AD. In the past 5 years Arkansas has increased Ath. Dept revenue by over $30MM, we're #12 in total revenue nationally. In that same time frame Wisconsin's revenues dropped, they went from #5 to #11.

Alvarez might have been a decent coach, but he doesn't know jack about running a profitable, competitive athletic department.

Alvarez makes over $1 mill a year at Wisconsin (almost double what Jeff Long makes at tFlagship), but he won't pay his assistant coaches half of what Jeff Long will pay. That pretty much sums it up.

Alvarez = Douche canoe.

In that same 5 years the SEC has had a choke hold on CFB. Leaving little hope for other conferences. While we enjoy the luxury of being able to lose, others have to run the table. While we a nestled in a recruiting bed with endless resources, others have slow, fat guys and little money. I honestly think that Alvarez thinks that Wisky is a tad bit more than they really are.

your post partly makes sense, but the conference they're in happened to sign the richest TV deal out of all conferences so far.

In this era of sponsorships and corporate approach to Ath. Dept. there is no excuse for revenue to drop. It's fiscal mismanagement. You're telling me if Auburn won the SEC 3x in a row the last 3 years people would stop sending in donations, stop going to games, and buy less advertising and product placements? No, any program in America sans Tennessee would have seen double digit gains in revenue based off that kind of success.

If Alvarez pays himself over a mil, and won't pay assistants fair rate, that says all you need to know about the man.

1)The Bigwhatever is rolling in money with its network.2) Wis. has been winning big for many yrs now 3) it's a large university with millions in public donations. There is no excuse for it to have suffered that much of a drop in revenue, if any at all, under Alvarez's tenure. As I have followed the hire, a lot of BB's assistant went to fricking Pitt for their $200K raises. Pretty much says it all to me as the reason he left & don't see it as whining at all. We here in the SEC are just not used to this reason even existing, so we cann't relate to its importance.

I believe he also lost assistants to NIU and Kansas due to pay.

Alvarez is going to pay himself a modest 250k to coach to the bowl game, by my rough count that is about what they pay most position coaches to coach the entire season, and they do not see this as a problem.

Yeah, pretty shitty to handcuff your coach to preserve your perceived legacy at the school. Frick Alvarez.

How would one go about trying to convince media to run with that story? That seems like a pretty big deal to me, especially in this Enron, Bear-Stearns corporate greed era we live in.

You're helpless if you don't understand the root issue.

Roots? Don't get your dick hard gump and go killing some trees or anything.

Beliema was losing the recruiting wars up North to Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. Yeah he won three B1G Titles but longterm he was falling behind Ohio State and Michigan in the B1G. How will he compete against Bama, LSU, A&M and Auburn in his division and UF, UGA and SC on the other side remains to be seen.

When has Wisconsin ever been ahead of Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame long term?

Very true they never have been but in recent history like the last 10 years they have had more success than ND or Michigan. Yet they haven't been able to take advantage of that in recruiting.
