All SEC teams will be required to have their OOC schedule's RPI average 150.

That's a HORRIBLE rule.

Here's just a few bad teams with RPIs above 150 for 2016:

87 - Stanford (14-15)
90 - Kansas State (17-16)
99 - Arizona State (15-17)
102 - UCLA (15-17)
106 - Georgetown (15-18)
109 - Northeastern (17-15)
112 - Eastern Michigan (14-15)
119 - Penn State (16-16)
122 - Richmond (16-16)
123 - N.C. State (16-17)
128 - Marshall (17-16)
149 - Illinois (15-19)

I still don't get why teams would not want to schedule a good RPI? It's the one sport where you are actually rewarded for a tough schedule as opposed to being penalized like in football. I know plenty of teams who wished they had made tougher schedules (USCe), but I can't think of any who have ever said "If only we had made an easier schedule we would have made the tournament."

Alabama last year was nowhere near a tournament caliber team but we nearly made it solely due to a tough OOC schedule.

Outside of Eastern Michigan and Richmond, who in that schedule wouldn't you rather see your team play as opposed to Northeastsouthwest State A&M?

Ok, now here are some NAME schools with poor RPIs last season:

159 - Wake Forest
165 - Nebraska
169 - Murray State
172 - Oklahoma State
192 - Harvard
206 - St. Louis
245 - St. John's
258 - Minnesota
294 - Rutgers

Also, how many of the top 150 RPI schools will be willing to play SEC schools in their building?

Not sure how it can be enforced, but I like the intent. Teams need to schedule better. There's no reason not to, particularly in basketball.

And honestly, they're not really "name" but a couple of those are either in the processing of getting rid of coaches/coaching changes.

Some SEC schools may need to go out of their building to play OOC games. If Kentucky and Florida can go out and play neutral site games against high-quality opponents then other SEC teams shouldn't be above that.

I'd like to see Nacho State and Directional U. replaced on Bama's schedule with as many of the rotating SEC East teams that scheduling would allow. Without changing the conference schedule, just designate the other games with SEC foes as OOC games and play some of them in December.

Might be boring for KY, but would be potentially good for the rest of the conference.

Barnes said he would like to see a fine system put in place for those who don't meet the criteria. No way that's happening, right?

150 is VERY easy imo. I would like to see them implement Barnes' mandate of 2-3 top 50 games as well.

Not hard at all as UNC, Kansas, IU, Zona, etc. are top 50 teams every single year. More guess work in figuring out 150 than top 50.

Listening to radio on the drive home I must have misheard earlier....the teams you schedule have to have a three year average of 150. That should alleviate any concerns y'all had.
