6 permanent opponents, 9 others you rotate through every 3 years.
Start off with a solution that minimizes travel for the 6, then tweak for rivalries that must be maintained.
You're welcome.

If ESPN/Disney wants pods, we get pods. You understand? The mouse runs the show now.

So pretty much the exact same thing that’s already in place with one extra cross-divisional game
Groundbreaking stuff. Truly

No divisions, you work out some rules for who gets in the championship game.

No, re-read slower. Very different than current setup.

So give us each teams six opponents...

Somewhat flexible, I'll do a few. You'd get some computer nerd to find a solution with minimal travel, and tweak for rivals.

Has some advantages and would work, but I have couple thoughts. First with the 9 game schedule, it will take 6 years to rotate home and home. A lot better than what we have today, but the minimum time should be 5 years. This way a 5th year senior would have a chance to experience the entire SEC.
Second, the SEC can be roughly divided in half into teams that have been historically competitive for championships and those who haven't. Not really true for other conferences. We have alot of depth.
For schedule balance, you will want to spread those teams out. You don't want any teams playing mostly good one year and not the next. Given the nature of the SEC, I think grouping the SEC in halves facilitates this easier than grouping it in thirds. Of course these divisions could be adjusted periodically, but the thirds will require them more frequent.
If 9 games, I'm a 3 permanent and 6 rotating guy. Completes the home and home in 4 years and divides the conference in half for scheduling balance. FWIW, as you can see, a lot of people are having trouble wrapping their heads around how this works.

A better solution would be 3+6 so you rotate every 4 years… plus who needs more than 3 perm rivals?

Alabama proposes a schedul called “The Saban”......it’s where Alabama continues to rape all of us until his retirement.

Having 6 perms would make it feel more like a conference. But I'll concede the pods would allow the seniors to have home and away games with everyone which is cool.
Anyway the Sooners think they already know (from SEC insider) it's going to be pods, with one being Ark, Mizzou, OU, Tex.
