Go learn you something, gump!
And lighten up -- I'm just trying to give you gumps a pep talk so you'll get pissed at yourselves and take out all that anger on Auburn.
I have tremendous respect for Bama (because I'm old enough to remember the Bear), but you need to admit that 3-8 over any span against LSU is pathetic. You know, I know it, the whole damn country knows it. Don't shoot the messenger. Deep down, you know it's true.
Get a hold of yourselves, stop baiting Finebaum into calling you irrelevant (that's his form of a pep talk) and get your arse in gear to beat Auburn.

Again, defaming the memory of the Bear. The Bear cheated his arse off, but made sure he didn't get caught. Albert Means wouldn't have posed a problem for the Bear.

He played under the same rules (or lack of rules) that every other coach played under. Alabama didn't have any problems with the NCAA under Bryant, fyi. In fact, we didn't get our first probation until the 90's.

But nobody did it quite like he did. And Bama has yet to get back to his level of awesomeness.
I just feel bad for y'all. I really do. And if you lose to Auburn, that will just be awful.
Where has the magic gone, Bama fans?
The Bear is PISSED.

You're making my point for me.
Since 1982, Bama has shite all over the Bear's memory.
Probation.
Struggling to keep up with the Joneses.
3-8 against LSU since 2000.
Bear is PISSED.
Make him slightly less pissed.
Beat Auburn.

Post-Bear era, few if no programs have been able to have any sense of a true "dynasty" outside of maybe Miami.
The 85 limit caused such increased parity that no program will ever see Bryant-esque runs with 6 national titles.
In reality, Alabama's 2 national titles since Bryant died are on par with the other major programs in the nation such as Florida, LSU, USC, FSU, Ohio St, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. Miami is the only program post-70's to really distinguish itself above the rest.

So Bama will continue to be irrelevant?

I can't believe a Gump is actually OKAY with merely being "on par" with Florida and LSU.
Really?
You're okay with that?

Thanks, I'll remember that when I am called down from my seat in the stands to suit up and play. Actually Saban called me at work today to see if I'll be available that weekend. I told him I might be duck hunting that morning but that I might can make it in time to warm up.

Well we appreciate your pity, we really do, but I think we are all still holding up alright considering our team held up the national championship trophy not 11 months ago.

And since the Bear died the most storied program in college football history - Notre Dame - has only won one national title (1988).
Oklahoma has won two (1985, 2000), Ohio State has won one (2002), Nebraska has won three (1994,1995,1997), Michigan has won one (1997), Penn State has won one (1986), Texas has won one (2005), USC has won two (2004, 2005 [I don't count 2003]), and Alabama has won two (1992, 2009).
I don't really see the point you are trying to make here. The "traditional schools" that dominated the 50s, 60s, and 70s with Alabama have all struggled to maintain that level of dominance that they enjoyed back in the day. Hell, even Florida State managed just two national titles in the 90s and they were dominant throughout that whole decade. The new rules established by the NCAA have worked in limiting the dynasty. And with the SEC being the way it is you will never see a team dominate this conference the way Alabama did in the 70s.

Do you want to talk about the topic or just flame? I am telling you that in modern college football, all you can do is hope to be in a position with the top 10 or so programs to be in contention for a national title every year. If we are contenders every year and win one here and there then I am happy and that is all you can expect.

So you admit it. Being on par with LSU and Florida is good enough for Bama in the post-Bear era. You're okay with that.
And if you lose to Auburn this year?
Hari-kari.
50 yard line.

Why? Because LSU couldn't? At some point son, you're gonna have to start doing for yourself.
Weak arse MF depending on someone else to do for him what he couldn't.
