He said that because he got benched. He can stay mad for all I care.

yea it's always gonna look like he went out afraid of the asswiping Dabo would lay on him.

Spurrier was 5-2 against Dabo

Not entirely true. We have had to go down the list several times in recent hires because option 1-2 and maybe 3 said no.

as far as spurrier goes- i really don't care when/why he left. i've thought his barbs were overrated for years but he was a good coach.
I can't help but think he wouldn't have done it without a lot of USCe support and something in place for when he did leave. Frankly, it was probably smart for USCe and Spurrier to pull the trigger early when they may have foreseen a not-so-stellar season and roll out the welcome mat, as a lot of other good coaching positions are now opening (albeit mostly at the end of the year).

Admit that Spurrier quit on you and treated you like shite
He did. His pride kept him from pulling Garcia in 2011 against Auburn. Cost us the East and chance at the SECC.
His pride in being a "passing" team kept him from running Mike Davis in 2013 against a shitty UTK team.Cost us the East and chance at the SECC.
His loyalty to his kid and his buddies left us with Steve Jr as an overmatched recruiting coordinator, and Jon Hoke/Lorenzo Ward as ineffective defensive coordinators.
Spurrier did a lot of great things here. But he also made some major blunders, and we're glad he left when he did.

This. Quitting because the team you recruited is not winning, is pretty cowardly.

Beamer is a piece of shite weasel.
Though so is Spurrier.
Though so is Spurrier.

He just left in the middle of tearing it down. You're more than likely going to finish 4-8 (1-7) this year. This after going 7-6 last year. You are on the decline.

I still think Wilds being out lost us that game. Davis just couldn't do it on his own by the end.
But I agree. He coached horribly and made terrible decisions (2 TOs used just to decide to punt)
And he coached horrible in that AU game.
For all the great things he did for us, and there are a lot, 2 terrible jobs by him cost us at least another 2 East titles.

And we've improved since. Not by much. But you can see it. Did he do the right thing? Who knows. Was it the right thing for South Carolina? So far, yes. My favorite part about this is it's widely considered that Beamer stayed five years too long. He built the program up and then tore it down. Spurrier left before that happened. Could he have stayed until the end of the year? Sure. But what does it matter? He's giving Shawn Elliot a chance. He said himself "if I stayed until the end, we're all fired". He gave Elliot a chance to prove his worth before everyone gets the axe.

Spurrier should've announced that he was stepping down after Shaw's and Clowney's last year. Could've gone out in a high note.
I know, hindsight and such.

Has USC looked any better since Spurrier stepped down? If they have, then it sounds like he made the right decision.

The only health related issues Spurrier had was an infection in his vagina.
