not sayin urban Meyer isn't an excellent coach... but y'all saw what happened without Tebow.

My personal reasoning for believing he has prove nothing as a coach at Auburn.
He came to a desperate university as a desperate coach. He went out and made desperation hires Malzahn and Taylor would be the ones that stick out the most.
Malzahn has essentially been a co head coach and Cam fell into Auburn's lap.
As Malzahn and Cam move on we will begin to see where Chizik's legacy goes.

Chizik is a great CEO coach(not a slight FWIW), he has the abilities to lead, motivate, etc...
I do think his "defensive prowess" is completely overblown, it's not his best quality as a coach.

Like Barkley said. Without Newton AU would be 7-5.

We'll find out next year when Cam is gone. Until then he remains Gene Cheesedick.

Too early to tell on Chizik

I've been more impressed with Chizik as this week has went on. He interviews better than any coach this bowl season.

That's questionable considering how many times they've come out flat this year and last year. Rallying the troops, yes, but if they're able to overcome double-digit deficits, then they should've blown every team they played this year out of the frame (like they're about to do to Oregon).

Gus Malzhan's offense is unstoppable with a QB like Cam, the dominant O-line, and solid stable of running backs.
Gus's offense reaches its full potential when the QB can play like another running back. Cam does that, and he is also a darn good passer in the college football world.
Opposing defenses going against Cam at QB and Malzhan calling the shots don't stand a chance. One, Malzhan's always a step ahead. Two, in just trying to stop Auburn on any one play, half the time you don't even know who has the ball until they're hitting they're passing the line of scrimmage with it. Three, they're QB is as good a runner as the 2 runningbacks who could also get the ball on any given play.
There are few QB's like Cam out there, and if Cam went down, then the offensive production would drop heavily, but would still be good by anyone's standards. You lose Cam and Gus, then you're going to have a hard time finding anyone as good as Gus out there right now, and there's never been anyone like Cam.
Chizik is going to lose Gus and Cam (this year or next), and until he loses them and wins the SEC without them, people won't give him the credit a coach should for going 13-0/14-0.

Chiziks success is s direct correlation to cam newton. Without him chiz would be out of s job by next year.
well, i guess bilichik's success is a direct correlation to tom brady...
that all goes hand in hand..
i agree with you to a degree...football is a TEAM sport...do you really believe that cam would be as successful as he was this season without an offensive line? but, of course those big ole o linemen are the silent heros....success actually starts in the trenches...it doesnt matter who your coach or quarterback is..if you dont have an offensive line, you will accomplish nothing......

I like him. Seems like a good person. I would think that he recruits as well as the best of them. Good for Auburn.

His offense is unstoppable even without a QB like Cam, a dominant o-line, and a solid stable of running backs. See Auburn in '09, Tulsa in '07 and '08, and Arkansas in '06.

I was a tackle in high school and hated it. If a running back does poorly or a qb takes a sack then the first people to take the blame are the linemen. If they do well then the backs are just stars and no one credits the line. They really are unsung heros that are getting more credit these days than they were 15 years ago.

clearly his best hire was cam newton

He will never again have a backfield like he did at Arkansas.
Arkansas played Tulsa in 2008, and our crappy defense held his vaunted offense to 23 points. That season, our defense had given up 24 to Western Illinois and 27 to LA Monroe. That Arkansas defense had 30 or more points scored on it 6 times during the season.
In 2009, in Guss's first season with Auburn, Arkansas held Auburn to 23 points.
Gus's offense is not unstoppable unless he has unstoppable athletes like Cam Newton and the guys that were in Arkansas's backfield in '06. He won't always have athletes of that caliber, but will always be able to put a good offense on the field because he's a flat out great OC, but an offense like he had this year is not going to be the norm.
