how he was treated by "everyone" when he decided to transfer.

You mean when he quit the team 4 games into the season thus weakening a position group that started a true FR running QB? The teammates, coaches, etc weren't thrilled with him doing something not done before? Shocking!

Look at how Bama players and fans treated guys that transferred out when season was over. Most still support and pull for those guys to have success. Hell, we were thrilled with some of Mo Smith's success last year at UGA. I can think of one play in particular you might remember that had Bama fans and Smith's former teammates thrilled.

And yet, in the 3 games Barnett played in last year, he didn't turn it over a single time, unlike Hurts.

Awwwww...you have gone and done it now and derailed this thread.....all the Jalen fanboys will pile here to tell us how improved he is going to be and its all going to be better this year.

True. We all heard about the bad scrimmages last fall camp.

It's hard to compare the respective situations of which both played.

Well, I think most fans just want to focus on the positive, and there's nothing at all wrong with that.

Granted, Barnett was coming in after the other team was pretty well beaten and beaten up.

What about them? It's hypocritical to claim Barnett turned the ball over too much in a practice when Hurts actually turned the ball over like 14 times in real live games.

We had no backup for Hurts, the coaches were forced to go with what they had even with the numerous turnovers.

Maybe it was a case of them just assuming they would have the job regardless of what was playing out during practice.

This is kinda what I took from it.

This is a non-story. Bateman was on campus for 4 years and just wasn't very good. He can't even win the back-up job at Utah. He took it like a man, finished the season and transferred.

Most people had an issue with Barnett because he handled it like a middle school girl. He looked like Joe Montana against air in 7-7's, but in scrimmages with live bullets flying he threw more picks than Spencer Pennington and Brandon Avolos combined. He couldn't get the offense going in games either, and got passed by a true freshman--that's his fault. And then, instead if being a man, finishing the season as the back-up and then transferring, he punked out on his team after game 4. He's just a little prima donna from Cali that was used to having his butt kissed and didn't like being told to sit his butt on the bench where it belonged. Now it appears he will get beat out again at ASU. Saban made the right call, maybe they didn't like how it got communicated to them--but welcome to the real world.

Well, what kind of head coach coming off a national championship season chooses a 17 yr old, wet behind the ears, zero experience, tFrosh QB to take the reigns of his offense and navigate the season?

I could totally understand Barnett/Bateman making a logical assumption that they'd be the men in charge.

That's just not even close to true and nobody who is a regular on this board would back you up on that. Sad.

Attacked? I said he quit on his team, was free to do so but should not be shocked if people review his decision and make judgement that he let his team down, yes. If that equals "attack", then ok I guess.

Yea, no moral backbone in questioning a decision to quit 1/3 of the way through a season. What a bunch of assholes.

He threw 19 passes and ran 7 times. 13 of the passes and 3 of the runs were at the end of games against WKU and Kent State. Another chunk of them were up 5 TDs against USC. Come on.

As for the 2nd part, there aren't many Jalen fanboys. Jalen needs to improve or he won't play this year, that's basically it. I don't think anyone is sure of the fact that he will.

I need to save this post to show Bama Revisionist attitude. "I just attacked him because he quit on his team" plays well within your circle.

Weird that you think disagreeing with a decision while still wishing someone well is some sort of evil move.

I'm sure you universally apply this line of thinking to other situations.

I equated your comments to wishing your ex-wife well in her new marriage to your boss.

Hope the kid does well at ASU. He loved Alabama, and recruited other kids for us early. When the lights came on, even in scrimmages, he just didnt have it.

Don't know what the hell Bateman is talking about. Should've never been offered a scholly much less being talked about as a starter last yr.
