What? We're saying it's a career award, but no one is bitching and saying Dee got screwed.

Because you have much more expertise than the people who vote for this thing. C'mon man...

Keep posting, though. Your tears are my favorite.

Oh?

The Fresno State kid was robbed. -capstonegrad

what an embarassment. - golgi apparatus

No one is arguing that Banks is better than Dee because hell even he knows he isn't - allbamadoesiswin (arguing the same thing I am in this thread.. "career award", and not an indication of outstanding skill)

yet there are multiple centers that will actually play the position in the NFL.. and a few of those will be drafted in the first 2 rounds for it

Literally NONE of those statements say anything about Dee getting screwed. You suck at providing quotes backing your point. The only one even close is allbamadoesiswin.

Less tryin and more cryin, please.

Dee wasn't burned like Banks in SEC play. But that's not the point. I'm not even sure why some LSU fans are up in arms in this thread. Not one Alabama fan said Dee should have won.

You'd have to say at this point, he's one of the best linemen in college football history. He's on the short list IMO.

So, are you one of those idiots that thinks the Heisman should always be the first pick in the NFL draft? Or that the #1 team should be favored in the Vegas lines or else they shouldn't be the #1 team? That's not how it works.

The heisman is a joke of an award. It should go to the best player in the country, regardless of what team he is on.

If a dude playing for Duke plays both ways and is productive at safety and puts up numbers at RB and would be an insurmountable loss to his team.. give him the award. Instead, it goes to the best QB or RB on a top team.

He was in NY ONLY because the heisman is a popularity award. It has almost nothing to do with stats (Mark Ingram for example) and nearly everything to do with "memorable moments" and ESPN buzz.

His stats were ridiculous. Closest vote ever but it's all about "ESPN buzz and popularity". Real shocker that a unanimous 1st team AA running back would win a Heisman.

quote:

On December 12, Ingram won the Heisman Trophy in the closest vote in the award's 75-year history.[20] Ingram is Alabama's first Heisman winner, the third consecutive sophomore to win the award, and the first running back to win the award since Reggie Bush. Ingram was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American, having received first-team honors from the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News, and Walter Camp Football Foundation.[21][22]

So your point is based off their projection to the NFL? Several players the tonight winning awards aren't gonna end up in the NFL.

AQ Shipley won the award over Antoine Caldwell in 2008, yet it took til the 7th Round for Shipley to be taken. Caldwell on the other hand went in the 3rd.

And I'm cool with people not agreeing with Jones winning it, but what's done is done. Though I don't think championing someone like Khaled Holmes helps your case, he was pedestrian this year. He gave up a touchdown and a touchdown drive in one game early in the year with very bad snaps.

Barrett Jones, for all his perceived flaws, certainly wasn't responsible for the opposition scoring.

Ok.

Probably. But, with the sheer number of players and teams in the NCAA, that's not very practical. Everyone uses shortcuts.

He should get a made up award, as you made up the player.

Instead, it goes to the best QB or RB on a top team.

In college, those are the two positions that are typically the most crucial.

Did you lose an election in high school? This whole "it was a popularity contest" sounds like an ugly girl explaining to her parents why she isn't student body president.

It's pretty laughable when earlier in the season you guys were trying to compare Dee too Patrick Peterson. It's like trying to compare Dre k to Morris Claiborne.

You've got some serious fricking issues. You should consider never watching college football again and getting some heavy dosage of Prozac.
