I understand your team totally choked this year and have literally nothing to show for it other than making it to the sweet 16 when most picked tenn to the final 4.

I don’t see how we can seriously justify making this guy the 3rd highest paid coach in CBB. Damn. Should’ve let him walk and throw 5 million at Beard or someone a step above if we are shelling out the big bucks for once.

So what success is Phil paying for with Pruitt and Chaney?

Those are investments, particularly the amount he invested in assistants and Chaney to help Pruitt succeed. The reward end is why Barnes is making more than Pruitt.

Now the 3rd highest paid coach in the country after Cal and K.
why are y'all celebrating that? That is a HUGE overpay!! You could have Gregg Marshall for that kind of money LMAO.

Awesome! He gets at least 5 more years to continue his legacy, now spanning decades, of winning lots of games in the regular season before flaming out early in the tourney.

Not sure about this deal. tenn's best team ever this year yet with no SEC Championship, No SEC Tourney Championship and loses in sweet 16. This was your year.

Your post would make more sense if this was our best team ever. It wasn't

Because 1. our former ADs wouldn't spend a dime to get or keep a good coach, 2. that salary tells every coach out there that we will support you and that we are committed to basketball.

We have some of the best facilities in the country, were the second highest CBB tv market this year, have a large rabid fanbase, and an AD that will give you what you need to win.

Also, if you won't reward the Naismith COTY then who the frick will you reward?

It is an overpay but worth it for the stability imo.

Should be a tournament team next year, could be much better than that if Williams is back.

2020 class will be the best in school history in all likelihood.

Better to overpay than start over with Wes Miller.

im not surprised he stayed or that he got a raise, that was just a BIG raise. With the taxes in Cali i figure a 4M offer = 5M out there. But, stability is worth investing in.
