Even with reasonable suspicion and probable cause
Come on man, they were smoking dope and Hootie obviously had a damn gun on his lap. That's more than "reasonable suspicion" and I'm sure the officer presented himself when he noticed they had a weapon.
Get out of here with this entrapment nonsense.

Good God you people think of some weird shite.

So giving them a slap on the wrist for illegal possession of firearms is the answer? We should wait until it becomes violent? How is that helping anybody?

I'm not taking pleasure but these dudes deserve jail time. Drugs and guns. That's exactly what's wrong with kids these days and young athletes. They think they are invincible.
I joke about kids getting in trouble about weed because I really do not think it is a big deal. And most of the time athletes caught with weed do not get hit that hard.
The stolen gun thing is much more troublesome, but sadly it is not that rare these days.
I am not sure how jail time serves society in this case. We don't have all the details yet, and the stolen gun thing seems the most serious. But, I would like to think there are better alternatives to educate people who did not commit a violent crime instead of time in jail.

It's a shame that most couldn't get both.

It's uncanny how many of the big Louisiana prospects that LSU "loses" in recruiting end up literally being criminals.
