I think Alabama players were too busy preparing for the Arizona Cardinals.

Bama got out coached because of Kirby Smart and Tennessee's ineptitude.
Bama retooled their staff with a bunch of young recruiters instead of great position coaches to combat what Kirby is doing in recruiting. This Bama staff was the worst as far as player development. Only two players improved on the entire team.

Tennessee is such a dumpster fire of a program that they struck out on their first 10 targets for head coach. They ended up taking Pruitt and Saban did not have a plan on how to replace him. He promoted Tosh who was an ace recruiter, but marginal position coach. He turned out to be a pretty bad DC.

The game was lost in the off season. Saban basically traded this championship for possibly the highest rated recruiting class of all time. If the recruiting class yields multiple Championships then it was worth it.

Bama gets out coached a lot. Their NFL team usually makes up for it until they meet someone in the same stratosphere as them in terms of talent

Bingo. Saban has admitted he’s better at recruiting, evaluating, and developing talent than he is at in-game coaching.

I think that is false.

Saban historically has made good halftime adjustments.

Saban has won too many big games after being behind or even at halftime to not be a good game day coach.

Agree with Op's theory but also I suspect Dabo has been game planning against Bama since last year.

They also just kicked our arse strait up

Because Saban valued ‘good recruiting’ over ‘good coaching’ when he selected his coordinators.

I don't think that is correct.

Saban is an insufferable prick. He is very hard to work for. Good coaches leave at the very first chance to get a better job.

Fortunately for him he has a system/process that works so he usually gets good results.
Unfortunately for him his turnover is astronomical.

I think it is why he runs his redeem the unredeemable coaching clinic. IOW the hiring of so many disgraced former coaches, because no one wants to work for him. Especially not for long

His last 2 defensive coordinators took jobs as the head coaches at Georgia and Tennessee.

Pruitt would still be here if Tennessee hadn't lucked into him with their 9th pick.

Kirby worked for him for years.....a decade at Bama alone.

Kirby didn't have any big name school offers until the Georgia gig.

He interviewed at a lot of places but no hires.

Hell even Auburn turned him down and chose Gus over him!

Clemson took advantage of the one weakness that Bama had, no pass rush. That allowed them to destroy the secondary. With an pass rush from the edge, Bama could have gotten off the field on 3rd and long.

If Bama had only one weakness compared to Clemson they wouldn't have been shut out for essentially 3 quarters.

I really believed Clemson was a better all around team and had said as much prior to the game. There was no shame in losing to them but to watch the players quit and not fight at all was disappointing. It was almost like the coaches new we had so many deficiencies on defense that they didn’t prepare them like they should. Alabama looked like they thought they would lose before the game much like most teams have looked like playing Alabama. Alabama got out Alabama’d for sure. They made our arse quit.

Clemson started game planning against Alabama since they lost last year in the playoffs. And you can afford to do that when you have a team is talented as Clemson that plays in the ACC.
