FSU 24 Bama 21. Frick, someone has to beat them in the regular season. Lord knows we can't, except maybe...this year.

Based on?

And even if you are correct (which I don't think Francois is >>>> Hurts, though he may be slightly better), you are forgetting the other 21 players on the field, specifically, the lines.

Bama 31
FSU 20

I mean, maybe, but Francois was a mediocre mostly volume passer against good defenses

@ Louisville : 7/18 (39%), 101 yards, 1 TD/1 INT
@ Miami : 20/31 (65%), 234 yards, 2 TD/0 INT
vs Clemson : 17/35 (49%), 286 yards, 1 TD/1 INT
@ NC State : 22/39 (56%), 330 yards, 1 TD/0 INT
vs Florida : 15/26 (58%), 138 yards, 1 TD/1 INT
vs Michigan : 9/27 (33%), 222 yards, 2 TD/1 INT

Total Passing : 51%, 219 yards per game, 8 TD/4 INT
Well, that seems cherry picky

Here is Hurts vs what you call good defenses

LSU: 10/19(52%), 107 yards, 0 TD/1 INT

Auburn: 27/36 (75%), 286 yards. 2TD/2INT

Florida: 11/20 (55%), 138 yards, 1TD/ 0 INT

Washington: 7/14 (50%), 57 yards, 0TD/O INT

Clemson: 13/31 (42%), 131 yards, 1TD/ 0 INT

So

Francois

51%, 219 yards per game, 8 TD/4 INT

vs

Hurts

56%, 144 yards per game, 4tds/3 ints

So yeh, Francois looks better like he said

I agree, and I wouldn't argue that Hurts passing will win us this football game. But the point of the post I was responding to was that Francois was really good and would win the ballgame, and my point was he really wasn't a ton better than Hurts last year.

And they lose Dalvin Cook and we return roughly 5 All-Conference caliber backs. So, Francois will be the key to their offense and Hurts will once again (and hopefully moreso) be playing off our run game. Also - Hurts run numbers were a huge part of his game and aren't included in those numbers. Francois really didn't do much running (except getting sacked).

Everyone knows Hurts wasn't great last year, but neither was Francois was kind of my point.

Total YPG in the games above : Hurts 197, Francois 220
Total TD Per Game in the games above : Hurts 1.4 TD per game, Francois 1.7 TD per game

Hurts will have more rushing yards by alot.

And Summer will admit, those stats are heavily skewed as sacks count in college, and Francois line was fricking atrocious

IMHO, you need to take out sack yardage for both players

Yep - but also kind of plays in to the point that his line won't be much better next year, and we're half decent at decapitating QBs with bad O-lines.

It'll be a fun game with NFL studs everywhere (much like Bama-LSU always is), but I don't think FSU matches up real well with us next year. That is of course unless Francois gets better this offseason and is really accurate, which is totally possible.

Also skewed in DFs favor as FSU had to throw the ball more often than bama. Hurts would have significantly more passing yards if Bama was in more close games

He was also a freshman and Jimbo is a very good QB coach. I expect Francois to have a huge season.

If we were comparing them to figure out who is the better player and has better personal stats, I agree. But we're looking at them in the context of a game between Alabama and FSU, and sack numbers matter because they will most likely happen again in the first game of 2017 against us, IMHO.

Hurts attempted 27 passes a game

Francois attempted 30 passes a game
