Louisville sells alcohol at their games. Imagine if pot was legal in Kentucky. Stoned linebeards would spend a fortune on nachos at games.

according to an annual study by Ryan Brewer, an assistant professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus.
Brewer analyzed each program’s revenues and expenses and made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections to calculate what a college team would be worth on the open market, if it could be bought and sold like a professional franchise.
So it's one guys opinion. An educated opinion, but still one persons opinion.

Risk assessments and growth projections ? We have seen these list before, and they are useless.

yet minnesota would fetch a higher price tag than UCLA?
Needs to work on some of those formulas.

And one based on terrible methods if his conclusion is that Northwestern and USF are more valuable than UF.

List looks pretty solid to me. For the most part, with a couple of outliers, fairly in line with overall success and attendance rankings.

Does Creighton really fill up that arena they play in every night? #6 nationally is nuts.

Obviously Pitino Jr means more to growth projections and risk assessments than Alford.

It's based on net profitability, which takes into account annual expenses. I think it's safe to assume that Florida spends tens of millions more per year on their basketball program than USF or Northwestern.

yeah I've been to coleman a handful of times and I haven't seen anything nearly approaching 10K fans there.
Not that we have anything to brag about, just saying. Alabama's "attendance" is not 10,000 per game. Not close.

I mean, that's cute and all, but I'm not sure about the "4,000 average attendance" that NYT is talking about.

10,000 butts in seats still leaves 5,000 empty seats. That's a lot of empty seats. Would certainly make it seem like a smaller number in attendance. Likewise, I've been to several, including the UGA game a couple years ago when Trevor hit a half court game winner, in which attendance appeared to be well over 10,000.

Surprising that Duke is that low..

The top 15 schools make some sense, the rest is a mess. Florida has had far more success than most of these teams and has higher average attendance, something in the figures he is using is amiss.

My guess from spending a lot of years there and now watching most games on TV would be
4-5K in the stands for bad, Tue/Wed non conference games (5 games)
12-15K for conference games (9 games)
If you generally apply those totals across our schedule this year it comes to an average of about 10,000.
