78 but not 79..good grief
we will never know if Alabama was better than Ohio State, who was ranked No. 2 at end of regular season.

Let's face it: most of your titles you claim were not won of the field. With the advent of the BCS and playoff system, history will judge them to be bogus.

Good one.

In overall NCs - Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee, have more than bama. Not sure about Florida...

Several of those were co-champions with other teams. Ya'll have 6 outright and about 4-5 more co championships the rest are total bogus.

Chicken started a long thread a while back that has his rationale in it. Basically the only "legit" titles are ones where #1 played #2. I'm not familiar with bama's 79 season, but I"m assuming it wasn't a 1v2 matchup, therefore by chicken's metric it is not legit.

One of the best threads to happen on here.

RA'ed for stirring.

ETA: also for possible alter, since I can't believe that a board mod would intentionally try and stir rival fans.

I have it tied, which is still impressive:

School (# of Legit Titles)...Title Seasons
Alabama (6): 1978, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015
LSU (2): 2003, 2007
Florida (2): 2006, 2008
Auburn (1): 2010
Tennessee (1): 1998

Chicken,

I am surprised Florida fans haven't jumped your chicken chit.

1995 Florida played in the first ever official national title game and lost to Nebraska. In 1996 Florida played in the second ever official national title game and won the title. How is the 1996 official national title game victor not a legit national champion, but the final 4 basketball tournament champion is legit?

I think LSU has well over 40 national championships. One night when I have time I will document them all for you
