LSU has 2-3 game stretches with quality/physical opponents. Bama didn't have one last year. They don't have one this year. They don't have one next year. It's so delicately aligned. Bottom line is fix it, or one loss should knock you out the same as Clemson.

We played @ LSU and vs State in back to back games last season. You gonna tell me that wasn't a physical 2 game stretch?

I will say this is the year Bama could really regret not playing a top flight OOC game, really could be the difference in getting in the playoff over a 1 loss Big 12/PAC-12 champ and not.
It's all hindsight, but the argument for Bama in the playoff as long as OU and Utah/Oregon continue to only have 1 loss doesnt really exist. Not every top flight looking OOC game turns out that way (like FSU in 2017 and USC in 2016), but they tend to be a little more forgiving there than scheduling Duke which pretty much everyone gave a collective eye roll when that 1 game was scheduled

Agree. It's not even really worth talking about (fantasy, I know).

Nick has been feasting on the LSU game for the past 8 years because LSU was that quality win he could count on if he stumbled anywhere else - Auburn.
But when you actually lose to your penciled in W against LSU- you get people looking around a little deeper at the schedule.
Also, seems to me that Nick does his team a disservice by not battle testing them early in the season to get them used to playing in tough environments and situations.
Nick knows that the media and committee will look at past Bama results as a predictor of future outcomes.
He’s going to get burned by this thinking this year.

His formula has worked pretty well over the years.

So don’t bitch about it this year.
He chose to play Duke
He chose to play Western Carolina - very late in the season
He was counting on the shrimp boat captain crapping the bed and giving him that quality win in case auburn pulled the upset in the rivalry game.
He was wrong this year.
He needs to take his medicine, get back to the drawing board, and figure out how to beat LSU next year.

I'll give you that one. 7 of the previous 8 were patsies though, and you had a bye week before and Citadel after. Then consider LSU had five ranked opponents before that game. MSU was still recovering from a stretch of Auburn, LSU, and A&M. Bama was beat up on defense, but just by pure bad luck.

He chose to play in the Chick Fil A game. The CFA chose Duke. Tough shite, but we didn't pick them.

Hate playing 1AA teams, but it's pretty normal for ACC/SEC teams.

I'm guessing he wasn't thinking that

Don’t confuse them with facts.
They are top 4 EVERY YEAR NO MATTER WHAT.
ITS THEIR FREAKING BIRTHRIGHT!!

Meanwhile, LSU played Ole Miss, @Florida, UGA & State leading up the bye week before Bama.
This year they played Florida, State & Auburn leading up to that bye week.
Bama can pound their chest about a lot of shite but scheduling ain't one of them.

Ole Miss was horrid, so 3 tough games and then a bye.
Alabama played 2 and then a "bye" against The Citadel.

Everyone knows the midget insists on playing a murder’s row of non conference games.

Right. Discount it any way you want. Ole Miss was bad but it's still a physical game. It always is.
