From 1997-2006, who would be your top offensive and defensive players? I ask this because it reminds me of trying to find some positives from OU 1989-1998.

And hopefully Prothro is there somewhere. That catch! Terrible injury :(

Probably Derrick Thomas and Shaun Alexander would be most often mentioned.

former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander on Offense (with #3 overall pick Chris Samuels getting honorable mention).

Demeco Ryans on D. he was a beast. won NFL rookie of the year, played 10 years, averaged nearly 100 tackles per season over a 10 year NFL career.

both all around great dudes, too.
