In terms of getting to ATL, the Auburn game means alot.
But in terms of history and tradition, Tennessee by a mile. We've played 93 times and the schools have won 42 conference titles since the rivalry started. They are the other blueblood in the SEC and beating them just gives a certain satisfaction that you can't get by beating a team like AU.

It's obviously UT. Just look at all the threads their fans start about them compared to Auburn. They are clearly Aubsessed with Tennessee.

I am not a fan of bama or the Tigers. But I don't see how you could end either of those games. The UT/Bama game has as much history as any there is. Those two teams built southern football. How could you ever end "The third Saturday in October"?. Surely Mike Slive is smarter than that. I mean tradition and history has to mean something doesn't it?
Same goes for the Iron Bowl. How could that game not be played yearly? Makes no sense if this is the result of expansion. I mean how much money is enough? I don't think people or schools for that matter should stand for it. Certain things make this conference great. Tradition has to be near the top. How to you end UT/Bama or Iron bowl and say tradition matters at all?.....

I'm confused - are most of the Bama fans replying in this thread OK with getting rid of the Iron Bowl if Auburn moves to the East?
No. Not OK with it at all. But more OK than losing the Tennessee game.

We've been down 7 or 8 years. In the last 15 we have 1 NC , 2 SEC chmps, shared or won 6 div titles. In this last decade when we fell off we still have 4 10 win seasons and 4 tied or outright East titles. We would have went to a second NC game in 2001 if LSU hadn't upset us. UT-Bama is the top rivalry. They just happened to get good when we slipped a little. The Iron Bowl only became big the last 5 or 6 years. It's always been UT- Bama.

The Iron Bowl definitely has gained prominence, but mainly (IMO) due to TV and not because both teams have been top-tier programs historically like UA and UT.

I think my position has been very clear ever since I started posting on this board. I will also acknowledge that my stance may not be shared by all, as geography plays into it a great deal.

My post history says that I have a problem with the way Auburn handles their business. When I say UT all the way, that comes from someone who played at Alabama under Coach Bryant.
History and the importance of the UA/UT game goes way beyond anything AU will ever bring to the table.

As opposed to the Auburn fans in a thread addressed to "Bama fans"? Fail, as usual.
Bottom line, if it weren't for Tuberville's streak, it would be UT by a mile. I wouldn't want to quit playing either, though.
