I agree but it doesn't take much to push a crazy man over the top. Not justifying what he did, but he wouldn't have done it had he not been pissed over some of those "clever pranks". Either way the guy should serve his punishment and au fans get their "poor me" moment for the media.

Yeah I see your point as well and it's very sad. AU and UA is a traditional rivalry, and in the end it's a friggin game, meant for our entertainment, and when one team beats the other AU and UA fans should be allowed to mess with each other a little, enjoy it, and have a good laugh.

When stuff like this happens it seems the whole point of the sport has been lost.

Most AU fans and Bama fans are great people who, while wanting to beat their rival in any & everything, respect the other on at least some level.

Sure each fanbase has its share of idiots on the fringe, but most people who support either team (like those who support LSU, UGA, Ark, etc) are decent people.

Just dont want all in either fanbase to be improperly lumped in

I can agree with this and as I stated before in another thread as bad as what took place I am hopeful it stops at the trees and we take a step back from the ramped up hostilities. We need to remember as much as we love our schools, traditions, sports, and towns at the end of the day it is not worth such hatred or actions.

I believe that every tree had at least 50x the lethal dose. No saving these trees.

I wouldn't. I can rationalize and differenciate between (a) people that would do something like this (b) those who think it is funny and do not mind and (c) those that do not think it is funny and condemn it.

I with the Auburn fans on this one. This is messing with tradition. It's not like these things grow on... wait.

I kid, I kid.

I was not comparing the severity of the two situations. I was simply stating that the isolated actions - moronic on differing degrees, but moronic nonetheless - do not represent the attitudes, actions, etc. of the majority of either fanbase. Thanks for jumping on the defensive though.

And Tuscaloosa has several landmarks (none like Toomers that we gather at to celebrate victories), but I'm not going to give you a laundry list of potential targets b/c I do lump you, unlike the majority of the AU fans on this site, into the "lunatic" category.

No, not all. But way too many. Here's just a few quotes from this site I found in like 45 seconds:

"I would honestly derive enjoyment, laughter, pleasure, and likely an erection if somebody poisoned all the trees in The Grove."

"The most offensive thing about this is how chicken shite it is. A sticker? Really? We just poisoned your trees."

"Nothing classless about killing that damn tree. Been advocating giving it that disease Anne Frank's tree had for years. Glad it's gone. Hey Toomers! Hey Toomers! Hey Toomers! We just poisoned the hell out of you! Rammer Jammer, Yellowhammer, give 'em hell, Alabama"

"I'm glad those stupid fricking trees on Toomer's corner got poisoned and are going to die. ..."

I would respond, but I don't want to share ideas for morons to use.

i agree most fans would never ever deface or destroy anything of the others property. the rednecks will always show up and make the state look bad over and over.

This is also the same fanbase that had a man shoot at his son after a bama loss and another throw a brick through their coaches window after an Iron Bowl loss.

It is just a small % of them, but unfortunately bama has more of these type fans than anyone else.
