Alabama-Texas A&M averaged a 3.7 rating and 6.11 million viewers on the SEC on CBS last weekend, up 12% in ratings and 10% in viewership from last year (Georgia-LSU: 3.3, 5.54M) and up 64% and 70% respectively from 2017 (Auburn-LSU: 2.3, 3.60M).
The Tide’s win posted the second-highest college football rating of the weekend, behind Texas-Oklahoma on FOX (4.5), but ahead of Florida-LSU on ESPN later in the night (3.6).

It was the first game Bama played all season vs a team with any pulse whatsoever. I was interested for that reason as were many I guess.

And they still haven't face a ranked opponent.

Wait a damn minute, this can't be right. Gotta be some kind of conspiracy against the Beaudreauxs!!

Yep its pathetic. Its not that I doubt how good they are. They are just the least interesting team to watch week to week. Playstyle is boring as frick too man. Dink and dunk and let their superior recruits outrun people. It works but not very interesting

So cbs made the right business decision and got the higher ratings. Win for cbs. LSU got their biggest game so far at night, a win for them. I think most Bama fans prefer afternoon games like I do, so a win for us. Wins for everybody but aTm and UF, of course.

ESPN held onto the top spots in the Saturday cable ratings this past weekend. The network’s broadcast of the Florida vs. LSU college football game topped the night’s chart with a 2.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.45 million viewers. A late-night edition of “SportsCenter” placed second with a 1.3 rating, while ESPN’s broadcast of the earlier NCAA football game between South Carolina and Georgia rounded out the night’s top 3 with a 1.0 and 3.25 million viewers.

Why does Florida at LSU have more viewers but a lower rating?

More TVs on for Saturday night maybe?

That would make sense. I obviously don’t know how ratings work.

Not sure who to believe on ratings. Hard to imagine an afternoon game got a little more viewers than a top 10 prime time game.(or is it a bigger share of a smaller market?) However, cbs is not cable tv and believe it or not, many still just use air broadcast. But whatever, LSU fans got the time slot they wanted and they got the best in the biz to call the game. I declare LSU the biggest winner in all of this.

Pretty sure the CBS game almost always outpaces the ESPN broadcast when the matchups aren’t super lopsided

in the afternoon, sure, but espn aired LSU/UF in primetime, so I would think the night games get better tv ratings than a major network in the afternoon, but I don't know
