Power came back up about 30 minutes ago. Glad all here are ok. Didn't realize there are so many eastern Bham/Trussville folks on the Rant.

Just heard from a friend who lost her house, but she and the kids are okay. Glad they're ok, but she is devastated.

Sucks to hear, hopefully they had Tornado insurance and will have a new home out of the ordeal. Feel bad for the kids having to go threw that.

That sucks, but it is good to hear they are ok.

The thunder and wind woke me up at around 5am, but as far as I know nothing serious happened around me. Hope everyone else is safe.

Sounds like a massive, long track tornado ripped through Alabama last night. Tornadoes already suck in general, but they suck even worse at night because you can't see them coming.

Looks like long track twister went through this morning around the same area that the 1998 twister went through from Northern Tuscaloosa county, northern Jefferson around Oak Grove, Pinson and Centerpoint. Heard there were 4 fatalities.

Deerfoot Pkwy got hit hard. Have friends that live in the area

I live in northern Shelby County in Hoover and the sirens went off around 3am

Heads up in Auburn. Line of weather is heading your way. Tornado warning just north of there - heading toward Lafayette, AL.

Prayers to all affected by these storms. There looks to be very significant damage in Bama from the looks of pictures this morning. So sad.

Expected a couple of dozen folks to show up in Clay to volunteer. There were literally hundreds, a ton of us were sent home and took our numbers to call later if needed.

Steeplechase
Georgebrook
Paradise Valley
Rosewood
Pilgrim's Rest

are some of the subdivisions with homes destroyed, one confirmed dead, 16 yo in Clay and word is there is at least one other at this time.

For the sadness this brings, I'm proud of how many people showed up to help this morning.

It did, just talked to my dad a few min ago. He went out with the tractor and chainsaw while I went to City Hall. He said they're having to turn away volunteers because they're in the way now.

I just woke up

Has anything more to the south (that's about to hit Auburn) been causing tornados?

I have friends that live in the Pilgrims Rest subdivision. Both families are fine, both lost homes. The cops let me get on to deerfoot but some guy Ina blue coat turned me around near the neighborhood. Tons of volunteers on scene already with lines of cars being turned around. I'm pretty out of it right now
