Every B1G school is an AAU school except Nebraska (who was AAU when they joined)..

Every B1G school also shares a border with at least one other school..

Therefore, you could assume these AAU schools are the potential expansion candidates..

They need 2 to get 16.. 3 if PSU leaves for the ACC.

Iowa State
Missouri (borders Iowa)
Kansas (borders Missouri)
Colorado (borders Kansas)

Vanderbilt (not on border but close)
Georgia Tech (borders Tennessee)

Virginia (borders Maryland)
UNC & Duke (borders Virginia)

Those are really the only options, unless they break their model and go a different route.

Iowa State, Missouri, Kansas make the most sense if you are picking 3 schools.. and all fit the mold..

Get out of here! No way Missouri go to B1G. Texas could go to B1G! That would make more sense!

They don't need to make a move. You're not coming to the SEC.

I’m only stating the options available.. there are literally are no other AAU schools that border the existing schools. I do think that the B1G might take Texas & Oklahoma (not AAU, but getting close I think.)

You guys used to want the B1G.. maybe that isn’t true anymore.. or maybe I just heard wrong. Either way, it wasn’t meant to be offensive. The B1G is a great conference and you are smack dab in the middle, and could go either way.

Perhaps Vanderbilt would be open to it?

Tarp at Gigem 247 has an interesting post tonight. It sounds like this actually might be happening..

Look Verbal, unfortunately for the Aggies, this is too big for the SEC to pass up! If they want in, they are in it is truly that simple!

I think they nab Kansas and maybe stay at 14. Iowa St is a backup plan, their program by the attendance numbers isn’t bad due to a buildup in the Big 12.

But overall expansion doesn’t help the B1G much. They have to transition from the successful cable mode they invented to a streaming model, and this is likely the cycle where they do it. I could see them being the other big conference that gets a big deal but no one else you listed can be had or is worth cutting the split further.

The most interesting question is the ACC. Can they nab Penn St? Is that enough to get Notre Dame to settles down? Can they compete by instead adding West Virginia and one of the Florida upstart G5 teams? Fun times.

Does the B1G not have a grant of rights? How exactly would PSU pull that off? Perhaps a deal could be struck to swap Virginia for Penn State? I can’t imagine that they would just let PSU walk.. but maybe that is possible.

I suppose Notre Dame would be an option as well, even though they aren’t an AAU school?

Perhaps, the B1G could keep PSU by adding Notre Dame, and then adding Kansas to make 16.

Kansas is a pretty safe bet if this all goes down..

Big 12 picked up West Virginia. What was that? Way out of left field! That is why It doesn't make sense with too many Texas teams in the Big 12.

The Big 12 scrambled and found the best fit they could find. The B1G is not in those same shoes..
