Auburn took a chance on Bruce Pearl, some negatives there too. Alabama is taking a chance, but one that can pay huge dividends, just like the Pearl hire potentially could for AU.

Anybody in the national media or inside college hoops said anything negative about it?

We need to get Avery on the drums.

Please explain to "the dumbass" opposing fans WHY it's not a bad hire.
Considering...Johnson has never recruited before...played or coached on the P5 level...been retained at any job past 5 years...has under a 58% career win pct.
Go!

Because you don't know how it's gonna turn out. Period
To call it a awful hire is laughable.

He already has connections. It isn't like the guy doesn't know anyone. You have to be a decent coach to get to the NBA finals. I guarantee P5 level is not NBA level.

Who in the national media are saying positive things? Tim Brando? A guy bammers claimed was an idiot as recently as a few day ago.
Paul Finebaum? A guy who has admitted he knows nothing about actual x and o coaching
People at ESPN that worked with AJ

And for you to call it a "home run" is even more laughable.
Alabama just gave the guy $3mil and he us as many career NCAA tourney wins as Grant had at Bama.

All smarter than your dumbass. Auburn lost 8 of 11 games to Anthony Grant.
Let that sink in little brother. Or more like red headed step child.

Are you seriously doubting his ability to recruit? Have you ever seen the guy interviewed? Have you followed his career? It might not work out X's and O's wise, but I have zero doubts about his ability to recruit
The man coached two 60 win teams in Dallas and was a Dwayne Wade super human performance away from a NBA championship.
When he took over the Nets they were coming off like a 10 win season. He was forced out a month after he won coach of the month. They were expecting Utah Jazz Deron Williams and looking back now we should realize how ridiculous that was. He was a coaching a team that was moving to Brooklyn, he likened it to playing 82 road games. He was dealing with one of, if not the most dysfunctional FO in the NBA.

Connections for what? The NBA...
He got to the NBA finals with a team that he inherited...it went downhill fast when he put his stamp on that team, which is why Cuban fired him and then why the Nets canned him.

Has he ever recruited? How in the world are you touting his ability to recruit, when he has never done so?
This hire was more than a Bama hire...this hire could have helped strengthen this league, like Tenn's and States did...yet it didn't.
Bama gave a guy 3 mil they had no competition for..

The guy really is perfect for hammer. If you just select a few positive stats and ignore the whole picture, he is awesome. Just like bamer basketball itself.
Just ignore the fact that the Mavericks actually won an NBA championship after firing him and the Nets improved after they fired him as well

Seriously?
The one guy I've seen hating on the move is Gottlieb, which is another win in my book

And you don't know its a home run, ding dong.
Arkansas just won 27 games and finished 2nd in the league and was ranked most of the season. Relevant? Likely...
