yes, most people will conclude they stole it. there is really no way to clearly prove cecil did NOT receive money or money was paid on his behalf. generally speaking, money has to be spent to prove it was received. if newton's got it in a foreign bank or is sitting on it by stashing it outside of our banking system, it probably won't be provedn until he spends it later on. if he has it stashed and simply draws down on it for personal use (eating out, buying clothes, vacations, etc ie, no big ticket items such as cars, homes, etc) he will probably never get caught. all this assumes the payor doesn't squeal or has a iron clad paper trail verifying the money was sent to newton or an organization he controls.

Auburn's BCS championship forever tainted?
Does Auburn claim the 1957 title even though they were on probation for paying players then?
You are on probation now.
Do you claim the 2009 title?

It's nice that all of the posters in this thread are in the position to compare titles (and likely titles).

If they win it, yes.

If Cam and Auburn are to be found guilty or not the public perception will always be that they cheated.
The funny thing, however, is that if Auburn wins out and Cam wins the Heisman and he and Auburn are both found to be guilty later on, Auburn will still claim everything they accomplished in this tainted season. Furthermore, they will most likely blame in guilty finding on Alabama and the REC's ability to control everything on this planet as the only reason they cheated or got caught cheating in the first place.
Ex. of a future barn excuse for cheating in 2010:
The REC paid Cecil Newton to seek at MSU and Auburn for money and force Cam to go to Auburn so that the REC could slowly leak the information that would ultimately lead to Auburn's demise.

The sad part in all this is that LSU really deserves the SEC West title and a shot at the SECCG. Sucks when you loose to a semi-pro team and no justice comes from it.

Like Villanova's W over W Kentucky in the hoops NCAA final,
AU"s season will forever be expunged for using an ineligible player.
Au gets momentary glory, and eventually joins USCw in football's penalty box. I love that USCw is appealing. I am hopeful that the NCAA rules:
We should have added something for the way Reggie illegally recruited Joe McKnight.
Here's the new ruling: 50 scholarships, 5 years, 7 years no bowls. Happy now?

Bammer fans shouldn't be allowed to comment on "claimed" titles. Just saying.....

If we were to win out I could care less what anybody says. The more people whine and try to devalue it the more enjoyment I will obtain. What I really hope happens is that we win our last three games get the crystal ball then take it to the top of JHS and drop it as a big F U to the BCS and the rest of the college football world. Then I hope we have a hayride parade to celebrate another undefeated season.

I kind of read his post as a shot at the '04 debacle, but I could be wrong.

This is the main thing. The overall stupidity of the BCS in general and the crying on this board is just lagniappe.

You'll have to pry it out of Bobby Lowder's hands first before that would happen.

People are acting like Auburn did not pay in the Cam sweepstakes. I find it hard to believe that Cecil Newton steered his son toward Auburn late in the process for free. Why would he give Cam to Auburn for free when he was shopping him to everyone else?

Every other school has come out and said nothing like this was brought up to them.

It makes no sense at all. Why would he be shopping him to MSU only? MSU was the only team they were really serious about at that point. Then he mysteriously pushes Cam toward Auburn late in the process. I find it hard to believe that he would shop Cam to MSU but anyone else could have him at no cost. It makes no sense at all.
