Yes, there were some eggs laid but the point is still valid. Gus usually beat the crap out of bad OOC teams too.
Again, I understand the optimism but it isn’t fair to say Gus wouldn’t have besten Akron and ASU just as badly. His problem was against good teams and in particularly on the road. This weekend will help paint a clearer picture of where the new guy stands in comparison. Even if he loses, as long as it isn’t a crap fest there’s reason to feel good. If he lays an egg then the importance of ASU and Akron will need to be reevaluated.

Penn State is an odd team. They were pushed around for four quarters against Wisconsin - but hung in and got the win. So just beating them on both lines isn't enough. Auburn will have to bury them to win. It'll have to look like Arkansas vs. Texas.
Auburn will have to win by 10+. Winning by three won't be an option. Just how this game is going to play out.

Hold that thought… those folks up there are absolutely rabid about this game. No parking available on campus. Sold out. The 1-800 Nittany lines phone hasn’t been answered in days. As I understand it even the ADA lots are full. Looks like a shuttle in to the game. By the way…. They are talking lots of crap about southerners not use to this environment. Should be a damn good game.

Penn State is easy to quiet down - per my experience in Orlando a few years ago. Yes, they get loud ... when the band plays and they receive their cues to do so.
That crowd is not spontaneous. Easy to silence when the game doesn't go their way. Auburn has an excellent opportunity to do so - if they start fast and hostile.
