Thats a function of any elite program. I bet you Miami in the 80s had more. Notre Dame and USC definitely have way more. I don't see the problem.

Considering the long-term success of the program - especially considering when it started - it should not be surprising. Crimson Tide football gave the people of Alabama, and even others in the South, something to hang their hat on - not exactly something in great supply in Dixie just six decades removed from the war.

1. Just because you didn't graduate from there doesn't make you a sidewalk fan. I was a Bama fan before I ever considered what college I would attend. As were many Auburn fans. Unless you want to group everyone under the age of 18 as an automatic sidewalk fan.

2. The fact you may have more graduates at the game is like stating that the University of North Alabama will have a higher percentage of graduates at the game than Alabama... All it means is that your team is less popular than Alabama. It doesn't mean those fans are sidewalk fans.. or that they are poor, stupid, or shop at wal-mart any more than most people.

I'm a UNA fan, because I'm from Florence. I'm a Bama fan because I'm from Bama. I graduated from UAH. Does that mean I can only be a UAH hockey fan?

I lived in Huntsville for 10 years and moved back here. I love it here and doubt I'll ever leave... but thanks for the prayers.

Have you actually even been to Jordan-Hare?

Every single person that you talk to either already has a B.S., either went there, or has someone going there in the mean time.

Jordan-Hare is not that big as far as "fan-interaction" is concerned.

There is just not very many wild, t-shirt fans or side-walkers from us as you would come to expect from 'Bama.

That is all I am saying.

This is the dumbest argument to make. 80% of your fan base doesn't know who your HC was before 2010, and they did not attend school at Bovine Gynecology Univershitty. Unfortunately for auburn, her graduates don't make enough to sustain the program. And before you come in with some random "average salary" chart....we know the CEO of Apple went to the Barn. And when you remove his salary (of which, the "school" doesn't benefit), your grads make an average salary of $38k per year.

At the end of the day....AUful needs Phyllis from Mulga, and Tammy from Clanton, and they both deserve you.

It's good, I don't go that often though. I like the river, the music, and the people for the most part... except the Jesus Crispies...

I agree. I know a guy that grew up in Tuscaloosa, but went to West Point and is now Special Forces. He is still a Bama fan, and I'm not going to call him a sidewalk fan.

Maybe most of the people that don't have to root for the team of the school they graduated from chose to pick a good team.

'97. '99, '01, '03, '09, '11 Iron Bowls I'm not going this year and don't plan to go back.

31-7 was the most fun b/c I was the right age. That made us bowl-eligible, 6-5

Honk if you sacked Brodie was the worst

That's not true. Y'all are very in your face to Bama fans

There's only a handful of national brands and most national name brands have high percentages of non-grads...Notre Dame, Ohio St., Texas, USC, Michigan, Alabama. It's what makes them national name brands. It's also why Alabama has the wealthiest athletic dept and highest merchandise sales in the SEC.

As an Athenian, I am jealous of Florence in terms of comparable entertainment, considering the respective populations. Now that I'm back here, though, I'm going to do my best to change that.
