There are some reports that he blocked the door and wouldn't let people leave while he shot people. No one can speculate on anything until everything is laid out and we see the facts. Even then, there are all sorts of mitigating factors. At this point, the fact that capital murder charges exist would indicate that they have some preliminary evidence that this wasn't self defense. Even if that's his defense.

Someone may have hit him over the head.. still not right to shoot 6 people... So, 1 might be self defense, the others Murder and attempted murder...
Stop defending the criminal.. No need for him to fire shots into a crowd...

You should probably wait until confirmed reports come out.
That is exactly what I am emphasizing. Let's wait to find out what happened before we wish a slow death and hell upon the shooter.

Evid he didn't leave to get a gun, why did he bring a gun to a pool party? I know that isn't illegal but still why bring it?
Exactly..There's still no reason in my mind why you should carry a gun to a party--your home or in your car? Obviously ok..but it seems this guy was looking for trouble
And if this one guy indeed shot 3 people, that's a little more than "self defense"

I'm not in any way defending him.

Probably the thug/gang culture we live in. I highly doubt the shooter was a model citizen.

Yea were people still "threatening" him after he shot the first, second, third? How many people did he have to shoot before they backed off?

I doubt he had a permit or acquired the gun legally.

Even if he was trying to defend himself, he likely at minimum acted recklessly. It will all depend on how many people were punching him/hitting him with bottles, etc.

You can fire off a whole magazine in a second. Who knows what happened or how it went down.

Hyperbole but I understand what you are getting at. People don't realize how fast these things happen. A killing spree/ shooting can be over in seconds.

This is about innocent lives that have been taken.
Everyone there was a victim of this deranged person. I am shocked at the disregards for human
life these days. Please pray for all the families.

I have not seen anyone suggest sending him to Starkville.

University Heights is a sketchy area, seems like it isn't even really Auburn students that live there. A lot of Tuskegee students live there

Completely hypothetical, but let's say the reports are true and Desmonte got hit over the head with bottles. How would something like that play out in court if he was using self defense? Obviously too many unknowns, but could the bottle thrower get charged with murder if innocent bystanders were killed?
The only way this shite would fly is if SIX different people hit him in the head with a bottle.
HE SHOT SIX PEOPLE. Shooting other bystanders NOT involved in the fight can never, in any way, be construed as "self defense".

Is that not what everyone in here is doing? There may be a flip side to this tragedy and before we wish the wrath of god on this guy, we should first find out if in fact he was being beaten over the head with beer bottles.
OK, Perry Mason... where in ANY of the rumors has it been alleged, as YOU just did, that the football players started the fight?
But, somehow, you (a Bama fan, imagine that) have invented that very scenario. What a surprise.
