According to a lawyer I just spoke to you are technically correct. However, 3 capital murder charges coupled with a three day run from the police means no bond is almost a guarantee.

The circumstances leading up to it will definitely play into it, like if he left and came back, etc. The fact that he shot 3 people satisfies the aggravating circumstance. And if it's true that he didn't let people leave, that could be construed as another.

it was a judge's call when he signed the arrest warrant. a bond is normally attached to the warrant

There are a list of things that qualify something for capital murder in Alabama, the one in play here is killing 2 our more people during the same act. However, mitigating circumstances could easily take the death penalty off the table.
