Gators gave Tigers plenty to lick their chops about after Florida's bittersweet win over FAU
quote:
Luckily, Florida looks like a team Auburn can exploit when the Gators arrive on the Plains with the head coach the Tigers missed out on during this past hiring cycle, Jon Sumrall.
A 3-0 Auburn football team is a very realistic possibility at the end of the night on September 19. The Gators' ho-hum debut of the Sumrall era in the "Swamp" against FAU last night lends credence to that idea.
quote:
Still, this was an FAU offense that replaced both starting guards and a starting right tackle.
This was supposed to be a display of a new, tough-nosed culture under Sumrall, against a program from a lower conference.
Sumrall isn't happy with the coaches or his players. While he didn't name names, Sumrall hinted that some players have excessive egos.
Luckily, Auburn hired a guy who has managed those successfully.
quote:
Philo's first big test at UF could expose his limitations in the SEC. Auburn's been beaten in recent years by mostly big-play quarterbacks. Philo is more of a Buster Faulkner system fit than a transformational talent. What happens if the system can't handle the opposing operating system?
Meanwhile, Sumrall's first SEC test could prove he's got a lot of work to do at a program that's had a lot of work to do for years.
Week 3 should have Tiger fans licking their chops after what went down in Week 1.
Game is for another 2 weeks, and Auburn's reporters already fired up about it

Gonna be the biggest mid-off in the history of mid-offs

calling a victory ho-hum when you win by 45 points and talking about how your coach controls egos way better after squeaking by with a 1 point win courtesy of a tackle on the 1 inch line seems a bit much

Can you not at least give the reporters name.

My wife is an Auburn grad. They've been waiting to be good for a while. Let them be excited.

So MSN is now an “Auburn Reporter”?

If it's not an Auburn reporter from ON3 or 247 who gives af.
The Al.com Auburn reporter has always been paid to hate on Auburn. The fansided or fake SI articles are merely nobody give a shite bloggers writing condemnation pieces of Bruce and Jews.

They aren't wrong, though.
Auburn didn't exactly come out the gate swinging on offense, meanwhile our defense looked pretty loose.
Obviously we'll see. The battle for 8-5 is on!

Andrew Hughes might be AI bot. Never heard of the fool.
Real Auburn beat guys are digging through the rubble trying to find positives from last game.

If they're digging to find "we won" maybe it's time to call the optometrist.

That is so funny I almost laughed. You might have a career in show business!

I thought he was just a homer, but then he took the opposite stance on Tennessee in another article. I just think he isn't good at his craft.

It wasn't really a joke.
They're really struggling to find one positive?

Fly War Eagle is not ran by an Auburn reporter at all. The guy that writes about them is from Brooklyn New York and he writes about a ton of teams.
FWE is frowned upon on the Auburn boards because it is uninformed garbage.

Yes there are positives. Our receivers mostly caught everthing that came their way for example. Plus Auburn usually finds a way to lose close games.
Jackson Arnold and Freeze dogwalked Baylor though. And really, Auburn played like dogshit and deserved to lose. Three turnovers, fair catching the ball at the 2 yard line, and a really dumb fake punt is usually enough to bury a lot of teams, but fortunately Aranda is one of the worst game managers in the game.

Also let a one-legged QB go for 3 bills, but…we won!

The fake punt was the decision that scared me the most because that is a terrible play, in a terrible place, at a terrible time. Imagine if them converting a 2 point just didn't matter because we were already up by 4 instead of 1.
