I didn’t read any of that shite, but have to ask… Do you touch yourself when you think about bama football?

I read this on another board. It isn’t only about Auburn’s recruiting but includes some reasonable points about it.
“It's a combination of health/apathy of the coach, bad strategic decisions when it comes to the TP/recruiting, building from a bad roster in the age of pay for play, and almost 15 years without relevance outside of the very occasional miracle at JH.
In the age of pay for play (it's not really NIL, at least not yet, and maybe never) the most costly of positions goes something Like: QB, DL, WR, OL, DB, TE, LB, RB, Specialist. That roughly follows the talent valuation used by the NFL. That's right, college right now is NFL lite.
There can always be exceptions to a rule, such as a wealthy team like OSU stepping up to pay big money for a safety widely considered a future first round pick in an area of need in hopes of capping a national championship roster. But mostly, there is a hierarchy.
If you look at their most recent recruiting class and transfer class several things jump out: Recruiting class: (HS) one highly rated QB, 6 DL, etc. Coming off of multiple bad years with iffy, at best, directional philosophy, they spent a lot to sign their, on paper, #6 class.
Transfer class (19 total): Here's where it gets REALLY expensive
* #1 and #6 WR transfer in the portal (causes reverberating effects on keeping what they already had)
* #2 & #15 OT
* #13 & #38 QB transfer (expense is not necessarily linear)
* #23 RB
* #29 TE (probably didn't cost them much)
* #56, 62, 92 DL (not highly rated but probably equivalent to what a #15-30 RB might get due to positional importance - when you shop for DL in the portal you pay a premium)
* #67 edge - see DL
* #11 LB
* #23 & 62 CB
* #39 S
* #4 P
The transfer class is where they really went wrong. You can argue that they HAD to have a QB and not be wrong. But they brought in 2 and Arnold came on early, so they didn't pay #13 QB prices for him. They paid him above market. Then they added to that by bringing in a second. Transfer QB cost money, no way around it.
You can also see the need for OT. The line was in such bad condition with recruiting there being so poor, that they really didn't have much choice. But again, hugely expensive.
But the really bizarre is at WR. They are paying huge money for Singleton and big money for Fields in an area where, if you believe their recent recruiting, they were already strongly positioned. Bringing in these two mercenaries certainly set off shock waves through the comp amounts being received by the WR room there, pushing re-investment just to keep what was already there.
Bottom line is they are out of money, or at least far enough out that their offers aren't close enough to the over-payment needed to get recruits to overlook the recent history and likelihood of another pending coaching change.”

LOL. Auburn is suddenly following ncaa rules, with Freeze no less, and every other team is cheating.
Boy, that’s rich.

Finance is not one of Auburn's strong suits.

Holy shite. Auburn has the $20.5M just like everybody else.
Let's see what happens when Auburn starts putting out dollar amounts. I have heard, early in the cycle under Freeze, about how poorly Auburn is recruiting. It always ends nicely on signing day.

Truth is in my opinion which doesn’t mean jackshit, Freeze better go a minimum of 9-3. Hs snake oil salesman arse better produce W’s. He was already tainted goods coming in and didn’t inherit a whole hell of a lot but unless he has a chemo bag strapped to his arm he better be greasing up the hookers and laying out the blow. Bucky beaver looking arse. Tens of millions of dollars and can’t get that grill fixed. Once again my opinion only and yes I’m a little rustled.

LOL at this thread. Auburn doing it the right way while the entire rest of college football does it another. Good luck flipping 15 highly rated prospects

A 5 star long snapper - must be a first.

was losing a bidding war for KJ Bolden doing it the right way?
Paying way too much for the GT WR? Was that the right way?

Flipping Kel Faulk from FSU was the right way.
