Absolutely. I do not care if he's the biggest a-hole on the planet. I want a coach not a new best friend. Would you really care if he was awful to be around - socially? I wouldn't if I were a Bama fan.

Not at all. I don't think Saban would have made it very far if people hired him for his personality.

I assume that if you hire the right assistants, they will compensate for shortcomings in coordinator personality.

This is the Ellis Johnson who led USM to 0-12 this past year?

It's also the Ellis Johnson who is on his 4th SEC school as DC and has consistently fielded solid defenses even at Miss state. South Carolina under him was very very good. likely not going to be around much longer seemed he mentioned retiring at some point.

Nah, this is the Ellis Johnson that help lead the best USCe defense in its history. Also, the same one that got the #1 player in the country to Columbia. The one that is apparently not coming to AU.

We have a winner. A fricking corpse could win 1 game against our schedule. I'll even say that anyone on this board could coach 3-5 stars backing up 3-5 stars. He is a loser. We call him Ellllllllllllos. One L for each loss this year. Frick him

I think everyone is aware that he did not do very well as a head coach. Auburn hired him as their DC which he has shown to be one of the best in the SEC if not the country.

But please tell us more about this season at Southern Miss

I had a friend ask me about him mid-season because his coworker's son plays for USM. Really didn't have many nice things to say about him at all. Said he didn't interact with anyone, kept to himself, and that he was difficult.

Just saying what I heard! I had to google him to see what people said about him because I always thought he was a good recruiter.

Ellis Johnson has been a HC at 3 different schools.

Average length of his tenure at the 3 schools?

1.67 Years.

Both are correct. 1st head coaching job in years and he hires:

Tommy West-DC
Ricky Bustle-OC (went to rehab soon after hire)
Steve Buckley-HS To OC after above. Coach of Anthony Alford last year
Tucker Peavy-No coaching position last year but was a high school coach 2 years ago.
Steve Maples-S&C. Has been a real estate agent the last 20 years.

I can't make this shite up.

I'd say it's clear that he's a good career DC.

People in Miami think Saban walked over convulsing players. I don't really think it's a value judgment. It's fairly clear that what he was doing at USM wasn't working.
