Auburn is dumb as frick if they hire Elliot. He's done nothing but ride Clemson's recruiting and dog shite opponents.

If Auburn wants that type of quality coach, they would have to swallow their pride and answer some tough questions. Those guys are going to have to be convinced to take the job and want to know exactly what the issue was for canning Gus and paying him off. I don’t think Auburn is capable of that type of humility.

His record against Auburn’s biggest rivals, 8 win seasons, terrible bowl record, no championship in 7 years. Pretty easy

Cajuns had 6 starters out due to Covid and got beat at the gun by a FG.

I’d like to see one name that shows that auburn is a top 10-15 college job

Billy Napier was on that list. Dude can recruit the southeast and has shown he can run a program.

All AU has to do is point to Gus’ 8yr record, then show him the multi-millions they paid Gus and the statement he made in a presser a couple of weeks ago. A “4 loss season is solid” and the candidate will understand why AU had to can him and pay him a monstrous buyout.

That I just don't understand. Clark just won the CUSA championship, and he knows the state of Alabama inside out. Auburn should definitely be interviewing him over a bunch of coordinators. Their search should be down to Napier, Clark and maybe the guy at Coastal Carolina.

Clark hasn't been a high school coach since 2007.

So you'd rather have Elliot who has only been the sole OC this year over a coach that has rebuilt the UAB football program which was literal out of business for 2 years, went 8-5 the year they started football back up, played in the last 3 CUSA championships and won 2 of them, and knows the Alabama high schools maybe better than anyone?

In all fairness he is at Georgia State. If he were at a bigger college then I would see a problem.

I hope they skip over Napier. Auburn is a top 50 job. They should have quite a few candidates roll thru.

Elliot has denied being contacted by Auburn or being scheduled for an interview - per Marty Smith.
