While in-state recruiting is a great thing to focus on when you aren't doing as well as you expect to overall... it's not really a concern if you are still recruiting great.

Alabama is 3rd in the nation in recruiting right now. They're doing pretty well, so it really doesn't matter where they get the players from. If they were struggling it would be different.

UGA is hitting GA hard this year, but that's more due to the fact the guys they identified as primary targets at various positions being in-state. They have 4 of the top 5 and 6 of the top 10 committed right now, and lead for the 5th guy in the top 5.

But last year? Their primary targets were more out of state. They only had 1 of the top 5 and 2 of the top 10 in Georgia.

UGA and Bama often use in-state guys to fill out the "meat" of their classes. But their top targets are not state specific.

Saban wasn’t a southern guy either and he worked out ok. I don’t think where you are from matters nearly as much today in recruiting as being authentic and honest and working your arse off. If a coach is phony or lazy, it doesn’t matter where they are from they will struggle. That and having the biggest bag of cash.

Auburn has a VERY good class. They are sitting at 5th currently.

But with 27 commits their class is at or close to full and there is little opportunity to improve. They will likely slide a few spots before it is all said and done but still finish in the top 10. Oregon will almost certainly jump them. Michigan may or may not with the coaching change. Plus one or two more currently ranked in the teens will move up, it is just a matter of how much.

Freeze has had three years to establish relationships with the high school coaches and players across the state, Deboer has had less than one. I don’t think this is a trend that will continue to this extent. Auburn certainly may get more year in and year out, but I do expect Alabama to get theirs especially now that the Bama coaches are beginning to establish those relationships as well.

There is a long list of coaches who aren't "southern guys".

Saban for example when he came to LSU, not a southern guy.

Les Miles - not a southern guy at all, dude is from Michigan.

Urban Meyer - Ohio guy with no ties to the south.

Gene Chizik - Played at Florida, some ties to the south.

Kirby Smart - Played at Georgia, huge ties to the south.

Coach O - Played at LSU, huge ties to the south.

I've seen what happens when Alabama hires based on these things, you get Ray Perkins.

Weird flex for a team that will finish behind Bama in recruiting.

Doubt it. I could see Bama losing more recruits than they add.

If Milroe returns, I wouldn't be surprised to see every offensive player bounce.

That would mean that Alabama would not fill their recruiting class. If you believe that Alabama can’t fill their recruiting class, then you are dumber than I already thought. And I already thought you are the reason “do not eat wrapper” is now printed on Subway sandwich wrappers.

That is dumb. Payton Thorne has been Auburn’s QB for two years. And as woefully bad as Milroe has played in some games, Milroe>Thorne. Plus, Alabama currently has the highest ranked QB commit of any SEC school. Again, your comment is dumb.

Maybe at playing RB. Milroe has better weapons and a better line and still sucks.

Thorne has an OL that just committed 4 false starts at home in the last 5 minutes of regulation.

If Auburn adds Offord and Kromah and holds onto what they got they will be number two behind Georgia. Number 1 if Auburn somehow steals Terry.

Alabama is toast. Georgia is the new dynasty.

Get used to it.
