Auburn fans: How much did Chizik really meddle in 2011?

that's what was said, I think it's pretty obvious now that Gus was just as much at fault as Chizik in 2011 for the poor offense. When Gus doesn't have a QB that can run, the offense is paralyzed.

Well if Jonesy can do it, so can I.

Truthfully, I almost posted a 'we' in there.

My thought process when reading this thread:

Really 2011 smack?
Oh, its Arkansas.
But why would Arkansas care about 2011?
Oh, yeah, they aren't good this year.
But still, wtf with Auburn?
Did they play Auburn yet? No.
Do they play them this week? No.
Oh, yeah, they have a weird thing about Gus.

Now it's coming together for me.

I'm just shocked you have a 'thought process'.

I bet you wish Arkansas would have gotten their first choice coach now, huh?

Why don't you just stick to your own boards melt?

Fify

Seriously, check out Chris Todd in 2009, slower than molasses but Gus made the offense work for him.

I think looking back we can assign more blame to Gus for 2011

I really didn't have a first choice- well I sorta wanted Charlie Strong but he hasn't done any better, so no.

Gus did not lose that game. The Auburn D was Auburn high school's D.

Not your first choice. Arkansas' first choice. The one Jeff Long went public with. You know, Les Miles. Long offered him more money than it took to get Bielema (and more money than he makes at LSU), and he told Jeff, "no."

My brother Thirdlawson said it well.

Gus' offense would be just fine if JJ was passing well, but he isn't. In fact as my good friend has stated JJ isn't doing a damn thing well at QB so of course the offense is sputtering.

Why wasn't this question asked the last two years?

Oh, for sure. The offense wasn't very good still and that has been Gus' calling card. In the past we've done a lot of winning despite our defense being awful. If the offense doesn't improve, we will just be losing mostly.

Not so sure I agree with you "completely" on this Jonesy.

May be some of both

It's cool we don't have to agree. I think our offense can be good with a pocket passer. Hell - it's serviceable now with a guy that can't do either. But I think it takes a dual threat guy to make it elite.

I added some shite as you were posting this...

I will agree a dual threat makes his O elite. I just think JJ not doing anything good is a big part of the problem.

Tulsa Offense National stats

2007 #2 passing offense - #32 rushing offense
2008 # 6 passing offense- #2 rushing offense

both qbs in those years had less that 200 yards rushing. Gus doesn't need a running qb.
