this has been it for at least the last 3 years, probably 4.

before the season starts you have expectations. when the games are being played, they aren't expectations anymore, they are observations.

with a semi competent offense/coach we are 8-0.
lsu is not that good. if Auburn has even 25% of the offense alabama does they win that game by double digits.

alabama will end up winning by double digits. they don't have as good of a defense as in the past but their offense is just as good as lsu's.

plus that game is at home where bama will enjoy the luxury of not getting called for holding either.

9 years ago yesterday, one of the greatest runs in SEC history
I was there for that one, and that was a great play. But everyone forgets for as much as y'all ran it down our throats in that game (over 400 yards rushing), that was a tie game with less than 6 minutes left before Onterrio McCaleb took a handoff 70 yards for the winning score. That was one of the loudest moments I've ever heard in a stadium.

i was at that game too and somehow it never really felt in doubt.

idk man, if it were me, i would have though of something more more biting and less kindergartener.

Still not sure I understand why this keeps getting brought up. It seems like just mildly funny postgame interaction.

after getting beat 40-17, kirby is cracking jokes? not hardly. of all the things to say at that time, first thing that pops in his head is "im gonna tell nick!".

thats.....embarrassing.

Congrats on beating your step daddy auburn pumas. 4th win in 11 years. You guys must feel unbeatable

you'll have to speak up. its hard to hear you uga fans over the 2 sec championships and national championship in that time frame.

I SAID, YOU'll HAVE TO.....oh nevermind.
he is getting better each game. he does that thing where when he makes a mistake, he actually tends to learn from it and not repeat it. That is how Cam was and Marshall to a lesser extent.

im not hating on JJ. i love all the players for Auburn, but this really cracked me up.

Under

I'll say 6.

And based on how Gus used Jovon Robinson last year, I'll say that Pettway likely rambles for 20+ yards on at least one carry and immediately gets pulled and sent to the bench.

this is the most accurate thing i have read today.

Just laughing at all you bitches after one game vs the #2 team in the country.

yeah, thing is, its not just one game this year. body of work is important.

and i don't think that will be the #2 team at the end of the year. maybe, but they didn't look like it Saturday.

The Gus system only really works with a legit dual-threat QB.

Malzahn's offenses

2014 (Auburn)
Scoring offense: 35.5 ppg (27th)
Rushing offense: 255.5 ypg (14th)

Total offense: 485 ypg (17th)

2013 (Auburn)

Passing offense: 173 ypg (108th)
Total offense: 501.3 (11th)

2010 (Auburn)

Rushing offense: 212 ypg (13th)
Passing offense: 219.8 ypg (56th)
Total offense: 431.8 ypg (16th)

im not sure what your definition of "analysis" is, but leaving out data to meet your theory is not in mine.

that said, chris todd couldn't run for shite and that season look awfully similar to Cam's and Marshall's seasons. if you look at his time at tulsa i think you will find this theory is not very solid.

THAT SAID, im fine having a good DT qb.

whoever made the comment about running the ball and stopping the run is exactly right. the 2010 defense is a prime example of that.

Hope he isn't Clint Mosley 2.0.

don't recall Mosley being at an elite 11 camp, let alone being the mvp of one.

Why because we don't want to correlate Tulsa offense with SEC play? We have the Todd era to show that it can at least be effective with a passer only, but not elite.

Doesn't mean he can't duplicate Tulsa numbers with a pocket passer in the SEC, but so far we can't say, amirite?

no, i don't think you are. 2006 arky team?

i was originally responding to those saying gus's offense needs a running qb to work. that is not true.

if you want to qualify your statement a bit more to "Doesn't mean he can't duplicate Tulsa numbers with a pocket passer AT AUBURN, but so far we can't say, amirite?"

i would probably agree with you.
tulsa doesnt exactly get blue chip athletes either.

go look at arky in 06 then. mustain wasn;t nick marshall either. neither was dick.

some of you guys should exercise those brains of yours as much as you do your mouths....er....fingers.
Tulsa Offense National stats

2007 #2 passing offense - #32 rushing offense
2008 # 6 passing offense- #2 rushing offense

both qbs in those years had less that 200 yards rushing. Gus doesn't need a running qb.

Let JJ play the first half or until the deficit gets seemingly too great to come back. then when there is no pressure, play White and let him start getting meaningful reps against real competition. maybe he will be ready for next year.

I really hope that what we are running is not the zone read. If it is, neither Nick nor JJ know how to read the D. Nick was pulling the ball when you could have driven a truck through the hole

Have no clue what you are talking about.

Nick Marshall was a goddam MASTER of the zone-read, consistently making the right choice. Did he make the right choice 100% of the time? No, he did not. But that's an impossible task to ask with all the parts moving in split seconds in the back-field and at the line.

But he darned sure read it right the majority of the time.

GTFO.

seriously, Marshall is one of the best i have ever seen running the zone read.
he is the same guy. go back and watch the first half of the arky game last year. he did the dame things, but arky was ready for us to run a lot and we didn't so guys were wide open. he was still staring down receivers, not going through progressions, etc. it just was harder to notice because he was completing passes and we were moving the ball.

he also isn't running the ball at all. i keep hearing he can run, but im not seeing it. if he can't or won't run things will not open up beyond the LOS.
